Diesel started being the NIU mascot in 2005 with the game against Toledo. We won that game 35-17.

Last night marked his last MAC road game with it being the exact same score. How ironic this turned out the way it did.

After our home game this Tuesday against WMU Diesel and I will be retiring. We will be there for the MACC and of course our bowl game.

Thanks to all the NIU fans, players, coaches, cheerleaders, band, Sliverettes, staff and everyone we have meet for a wonderful 9 years. You all are the greatest. Diesel and I have truly been blessed with a wonderful experience we will never forget. The great wins, tough losses and of course some of our adventures getting to some of these game (especially some of the bowls games and the weather we had to drive through). These are just great memories.

Diesel will be back at times to say "Hi" to everyone.

Now lets cheer our Huskies on to a win against WMU, MACC and our Bowl game.

GO HUSKIES!!!!!!

NIU needs to honor Diesel as part of senior night. Seriously.

On behalf of Huskie fans, thank you so much for all of the extra crap that you have put up with (in this case sometimes literally) getting Diesel to the games no matter where they were. There's a ton of hassle that goes into just getting Diesel to and from, and Cheerdad did it all on his own. Diesel is a family dog. The university helped out getting him into certain hotels and stuff, but all of the logistics were up to Cheerdad.

04-cheers
Thank CheerDad for all you have done and Diesel for years of service!

Just curious if a young apprentice pup will be taking his place, does anyone know?
I assume there will be a Diesel replacement for next year, correct?

shame on you. there is no replacing Diesel. now, maybe there will be a different Huskie?
Time for Diesel to start heading to private events, corporate fundraisers, charity events, my birthday......
You should be proud of all that you have done.
If a person can say that, thats everything.
Congrats!!!

Epic Applause

We need to push the university to take the lead on that. The chances of us finding another NIU fan who is willing to give up every weekend and travel all over the country so he can be there is very slim.

Not to mention, you are handling the dog at the games. No sitting in the seats on the 35 yard line. No, you're down in the corner of the end zone trying to watch as much of the game as you can. Tailgating isn't easy, either.
Thanks Cheerdad and Diesel for the memories! 04-bow
God bless Diesel and Huskie cheer dad.
Lucky dog... gets to hang with all those cheerleaders. Are you SURE Diesel wants to hang up the hat? :)
