any gamers out there?

I bought my kids an Xbox 1 for Xmas and was wanting to know what games to get.

Xbox games

Any recommendations?

Kids are 12, 10, and 6 (Thanks Billy)
How old are your kids?
Honestly, as an owner of 12 systems, none of the next gen feel compelling to me right now.

As for your question, there isnt much to choose from but you might want to look into:

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes
Skylanders SWAP Force
Zoo Tycoon
If your kids are sports nuts, NBA 2k14 has been absolutely incredible visually on the PS4.

From what I've seen, the only game worth buying on Xbox One at this point is Forza 5, but that's just your standard racer. Hope your ISP doesn't have a throttle limit for data on your home internet, because the Xbox One will run your data reservoir dry really quick. Needs to be continuously hooked up to the internet to work properly, and 10MB download is the slowest speed that will allow for full functionality.

I would probably go with Skylanders Swap Force too, given that two of your kids are in their targeted age range. The Lego games are always good standbys too. Truth be told, there aren't a ton of games tooled toward 8-12 year olds anymore, and especially not on the Xbox.
So if I was to get a Game system is the PS4 better than the XBOX1?

Here is a pretty objective comparison. Personally, I would pick the PS4 for the cheaper pricetag as well as not having to deal with all the baggage that comes with the new Xbox ie. requires Internet access to play ANY game, turns itself on to check in with Microsoft like some creepy spybot, the fact that this Xbox One wont play regular Xbox Original or Xbox 360 games while the PS4 can play PS1, 2, and 3 games. Most games will end up being on both platforms, with a few platform exclusives for each.

I plan on the PS4 once the price drops or my PS3 dies.

I have an xbox360 and hearing legacy games will not be played on xbox1 is disheartening... maybe time to switch to PS4 since they seem to have better games that are dedicated just to their platform (Like "The Last of US")
I had an XBox 360 and a PS3 (admittedly I liked the 360 better) but I got the PS4 due to the DRM policy that Microsoft had prior to their 180 they pulled this summer. I think that policy will come back soon, which will be a big old issue with anyone who does not have a solid internet connection. Also, a majority of the better 1st party (console specific) games from last gen were Sony exclusives and I expect the same to occur this generation. PS4 also projects in native 1080p, whereas the Xbox One will project in native 720p with an upscaler, which can degrade general aesthetics. The one rub I had on Sony prior to using the PS4 was the PSN vs Xbox Live, but now that I've gotten 6 free games due to my Playstation Plus membership, I can't complain one bit.

The prices wont drop for another couple of years though, and Sony has been on record saying they will only support co-generation releases for another year or so.

Also, the backwards compatability of the PS4 is not disk-based. You will not be able to pop in your old games and play them straight away. They are producing a classics library available for streaming on Gaikai, a web-streaming app they acquired a few years back. Still a better alternative than having absolutely no classic options/
PS4 it is thanks. Since I have PS1 already. I stopped the games after that. Had other things to do now may pick gaming back up.
I also use the xbox360 to stream Netflix... will have to figure out the streaming on PS4 I suppose.

I don't think that's true: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-...ust-a-fad/

See my post earlier...it isn't disc based, but they have been building a "Classics Library" for their streaming service, Gaikai.

It's the exact same thing to a T. Also, its been rumored that Sony has reached an agreement with HBO to use of the HBOGo and Cinemax Streaming services.
I have not heard anything about that, BearcatMan. In fact, I have heard that the XB1 will have every streaming service they currently have on the 360 at launch. Where did you hear this?

They won't be getting NFL Sunday Ticket as that's exclusive to XBox One, but still hold exclusive rights to NHL Center Ice and NBA Gametime, and MLB.tv has been pretty much agreed to. As far as movie and TV streaming, they both have all of the standard fare (Netflix, Amazon Instant, Crunchyroll, Neon Alley, RedBox, Hulu and VUDU). As of right now, HBO has only been announced to Xbox One, but as you can see, Sony has been working to get in with them.
Thanks for all the info but i think I will still go PS4 just for the reason of the internet access and having the certain bandwidth for it to run right of the XBOX1. Plus not a real fan of having company's have access to my stuff.

Sorry, I must have misread your post. I thought you said Sony was going to have exclusive HBO and Cinemax streaming when I knew that the 360 already had it in the current generation.

Understandable, but I think this is completely overrated. It does a check in every 24 hours. Is it stupid? Certainly.

The DRM crap that was originally talked about and dropped was a concern, but there is no way that is coming back in this generation of consoles (unless Sony does the same, then all bets are off).

I'm upset about them dropping the Windows Media Center functionality. I currently use my 360's as MC extenders and stream all TV, my local movie collection, music, etc., through my 360's. I'm not looking to replace them any time soon now thanks to MS dropping that functionality. The good news is that I'm no longer tied down to either system and can go with whatever I prefer in a year.
FYI, since I saw it mentioned more than once in this thread, the xbox does NOT require any internet check other than the initial first time start up to update it so it doesnt require the check ins.
