Would you rather beat Top Ten-ranked VCU at home?

Or notch our first-ever, BCS Football win against UNC on the road?

Explain your rationale.
Maybe, I am being to practical. I want us to Kick some tar heel football rear end. Overall, It will have a greater impact on our immediate and future recruiting for football.

Aim High * Go Monarchs * Beat UNC
Come December kick a ram or two around for fun.
UNC, because, let's face it, we are a football school now.

It would be nice to beat the sheep at their house, but even though the team is playing hard (So I've heard. I haven't been to a game yet. I only got the BB tickets this year to maintain football points.) we probably don't have much of a chance up at the Costco this year. That's not to say I would not enjoy the schadenfreude on ramnation if we pulled off the upset.
UNC by a mile.

Beating vcu does very little for us. Beating UNC, just a little over 2 months before national signing day, has the potential of doing much more good for our athletic program's profile. If we immediately fall into mediocrity in FBS, then it will be very difficult to climb out of that. We have to keep the pedal to the floor. One slip up and we may erase the reputation it took 5 years to acquire. And being that football is a higher profile sport, and provides a student recruitment advantage over vcu and GMU, it is by far more important than basketball.

This. UNC win will have a greater overall impact. I do think beating VCU in more likely, however. Il

VCU. Always VCU.
UNC it's not even close. Over 5,000 ODU fans will go to Chapel Hill this weekend, only a couple hundred will make the shorter trip to VCU. One win would have a greater impact on recruiting. One gives Bobby some chest beating for 9 months, the other only till the next lost. Still love ODU hoops, but not close.
Beating the heels by a stretch.
Beat UNC. It shows a great deal of progress was made from the beginning of the season, and it will help even more on the recruiting front. Plus I think it's well-established now that ODU is moving to be a football school, and it makes sense because it's football, not basketball, that really rakes in the dough.

If basketball beats #9 VCU I'll be ecstatic, but it also depends on how we've played up until that point. If we're 5-2 or even 6-1 at that point, then I might just change my mind, but even then basketball is just weird in that one victory usually doesn't mean much. In football, one victory can make or break you season, even your entire program.

FWIW, Massey has the basketball Monarchs winning ten games now, which is a pretty good improvement upon last season.

UNC. And it ain't even close for me.
Both...
Definitely beating the Tar Heels.

In football each game means a lot more than in basketball, plus it would strongly impact our football recruiting.

Great thread topic!!
Definitely UNC...as far as I'm concerned, VCU is an afterthought in my mind at this point
IMO beating the Tar Heels would be epic. Definetly a major boost for our football program. My choice of VCU is strictly personal. My hatred of the sheep goes back for decades. Beating their highly rated team at their place with a bunch of rag tag players that weren't suppose to do anything this year...well, that would be like a wet dream.

Plus I think a win of this sort would help recruiting and speed the recovery of a program that we all can be proud of that goes back before some of you were born.

Football is doing great, win or lose at UNC.
A chance to ruin VCU's chances at a run like we did UVA's last year is awfully tempting.
ODU and VCU both made good choices...getting out of the CAA.
I think you all know that I am a football person, but I just cannot force myself into a mutually exclusive resolution of this dilemma. I want it all, and I want in now.

GO MONARCHS! BEAT UNC!
GO MONARCHS! BEAT VCU!

I was thinking about VCU yesterday and how little I care about it now. We have both gone our separate ways and I just have the desire to hate them like before. Much of that probably comes from the fact that they have skyrocketed passed us in basketball. Is it OK to feel a little happy for them that they took their small midmajor program to the upper levels? Man I feel sick now :(

Let's face it - both fan bases were right:
1. We were confident in our ability to football work here
2. They were right in the fact that football would take a toll on our basketball program.

But then I think about that obnoxious pav guy, the band stripper, all the whining over every whistle, the block call on Marsh, Garry Shandling, Nick George, how their announcer says Soff-a-More, that building, the VCU Tournament held by the CAA and I just want throw up all over again.

I forgot to vote - Beating UNC by a ton! Beating VCU would be fun, but our first ACC Win? We would remember that forever.
