There is something wrong with our strength and conditioning. Injury bug is one thing, but this looks like an epidemic.

INJURY REPORT

UAB - SAF Jay Davis (ankle, out), SAF Calvin Jones (ankle, out), LB Destin Challenger (shoulder, doubtful), DB LaMarcus Farmer (hamstring, probable), DL Chris Walton (leg, probable), RB Bashr Coles (knee, out), WR Jamari Staples (ankle, probable), DB Kelton Brackett (arm, probable), OL Aaron Green (injured, out), OL Roscoe Byrd (leg, out), DE Chris Rabb (concussion, questionable), DE Diaheem Watkins (shoulder, questionable), SAF Greg Maclin (ankle, doubtful)

ECU - OT Adhem Elsawi (eye, out), TE/FB Zico Pasut (foot, out)
Yeah, I noticed that, too.
May be. I think there's a problem with the way injuries are handled by the training staff. The HCoach may dictate some of that protocol too. I think that's why there's such a rash of players out.

That's what one of the players parents told me last game. Doctors cleared the kid, but the training staff didn't. Maybe a way to redshirt him....

So pretty much (and I'm just paraphrasing not saying the coaches actually said this) "Look, There's no reason to risk further injury this season. Just sit them out or rest them and have them fully healed and rested for next season." I could see that with this crew this year.
Not exactly what I meant but that could be true too.
Maybe McGee took such abuse last year for playing an injured player that he isn't doing it this year. Whatever he does gets criticism.

It comes with the territory when your record is 5-16.
Some injuries may result from lack of proper conditioning (perhaps from deficit in facilities) while some injuries happen to players for teams with the best of everything in facilities. To the fan (like myself) it is hard to know one from the other except for the most obvious (broken arm / leg or ACL).

The role of the "doctor" MAY be different from that of the "training staff". The doctor may just be saying the player is generally physically capable of playing in a game while the training staff may feel he isn't ready to take full responsibility for the demands of his position.

Who's critizing? Or are you just saying McGee and staff in general being critized this year?

I was one of the ones wondering why he was playing AB when he was reportedly soooo hurt, but I don't think he heard me from where I was. If he did I hope he hears this..... BEAT ECU!!!!

I don't see anywhere on this thread where he was but I knew you'd be along right on schedule to make that claim.

It's so tired. For someone who claims that they have no expectation for blazer football, you sure are defensive for 5-16 coach who talks like he's 16-5.
Although it may not have been intended, I read posts 3 thru 6 as criticism, and had the same thought as MB.

I just don't buy the "strength and conditioning" argument for most injuries. If everybody is tearing hamstrings in practice, that's different. But rolling ankles, concussions, etc, are just freak injuries.

I bet ECUs number of banged up players is significantly larger...I think our longer list is a combo of 1) bad luck and 2) a simple difference in what each team reports
It certainly has nothing to do coaching. Of course the losses do. There, you happy MB?

I know that many of the injuries are actually fractures or breaks...can't do much about that.

No, my post wasn't critisim it was stating a thought that, we got guys banged up and we aren't playing for a bowl or championship so instead of risking more injury to them let's hold them out. If someone read critism then they read too deep into something that wasn't there.[/b][/u]
They live in their own reality.
Fair enough...I'm just telling you how it came across to me. Wasn't trying to be a jerk...I guess that's just my own reality...

I guess my reality is that I'm getting pretty tired of all the bickering and middle school like name calling on blazertalk (not specifically directed at anybody in particular).

Living almost 1000 miles away, this is, without a doubt, my best source for UAB updates, but trying to wade through all the other crap...some days I'd rather just depend on al.com (without the comment section)--insert the "don't let the door hit you" comments here
I was using "they" to refer to MB. That was my bad grammar. The way u put it sounded like a fair point and not like an ass.

04-cheers
Over-training. It breaks the body down, and sets you up for injuries. Same thing happened when Shula was at bammer (Wingo was the S&C coach).........super tough like Chandler, players dreaded the workouts (like under Chandler), an epidemic of injuries (like under Chandler).
