This Saturday night during the match against Ball State, WMU will honor the amazing accomplishments of the 1983 team, which went 32-1.

Quote:...one of the most unbelievable sports seasons in Western Michigan University history when the Broncos' 1983 volleyball team won all 30 regular season matches and then beat Nebraska in the first round of the NCAA tournament at Read Field House on that magical night before 8,543 rabid fans, 9-15, 15-12, 15-1, 15-10.
Quote:Women's college volleyball was dominated for many years by west coast teams where the sport flourished. The Chicago area had good players and there were also some on the east coast, but it was California which had the vibe.

Until 1983 when the Broncos would just keep winning and winning, and drawing bigger and bigger crowds.

''I remember going before home matches and Rob (head coach Rob Buck) and I would sit in the stands just as the girls would come on the floor to warm up and he would ask me, 'So, how many more people are we going to have tonight?' '' Jeff said. ''When he asked me that before the Nebraska match, I said, 'I think we're going to pack this place.' ''

''The place was just electric with so much energy,'' Carol said. ''It was just an amazing feeling.''
