KICK EMU OUT OF THE MAC!
Keep trolling on our board. The MAC currently has seven, yes seven teams with 3 wins or less. You can tout how great this league is all you want because a couple computers say so but when over 50% of your league has three wins or less at week 10 of the season the league sucks.

And to your comment on the NIU board, South Florida beat Cincinnati, Memphis destroyed Arkansas State, Temple beat Army, and SMU beat Memphis. Why do I mention this? Because according to you, South Florida, Memphis, Temple, and SMU all suck. I would take any of them head to head with EMU, Kent, WMU, Miami, UMass, or Akron this season. If they were in the MAC, they would have a lot more wins.
I don't think that NIU is too good for the MAC.

However, there is a huge power gap.

You also can't deny what they have done is impressive. Winning more consecutive conference games than ever before, holding the MACs longest home winning streak ever, going to thei sixth straight bowl and probably four straight 10+ win seasons.

That's how other teams jumped conferences. Again not saying they are too good, but not saying some talk is unwarranted.

Times are different than when Toledo and Miami dominated. More money, more movement, more exposure. If the times were like that back then, you have to admit Miami would be talking bout moving.

Nowhere does the OP say that the MAC is a great league from top to bottom. His complaint is that when a team has a run of a few really good years, they automatically think they are too good for the MAC.

That is why he is trolling. If you read the whole thread you will see it is about how much the MAC sucks top to bottom and how beating up on the crappier teams in this league the last couple weeks has gotten NIU no respect with the voters. We have actually moved backwards in some polls despite winning.
I don't think think we are too good for the MAC.

Some people, including myself, are feeling slighted that teams with similar resumes or worse are so much higher ranked than us.

The people NIU fans should be blaming are the voters, who are making absolutely no sense when they are allowed to dictate these major games but don't even use common sense.

I wonder if that were to happen if anyone would notice they left. Pretty sure the stadium is already empty...

Again, I don't think NIU is too good for the conference. I think the top powers are way better though. If you took NIU Toledo Ball State, a few others with some AAC or Boise and Fresno it would be legit.

But not just counting NIU having four big years, they have arguably been the most consistent team in the conference since 2000.
Oh man, this is going to get ugly ... and entertaining.

Maybe we should have left NIU in the Big West after their last over-inflated ego problem.

Northern Illinois fans are entitled to their opinions. Its completely unnecessary to call them out from their own board.

How would you like it if somebody had the same approach to all of your posts?

Yup...
Do NIU fans think they're too good for the MAC, or are they simply aspiring to be in a better league?

There ARE better leagues out there, you know. 03-shhhh

There are very few sports fans on these boards. Lots of football fans. Kent and EMU are one-two in MAC sports most years. I never much cared about attendance. I just loved to compete against EMU because they had the best track teams in the MAC. Very sad that $ became so important to college sports but I suppose it was inevitable.

You're just mad because you can't be an arrogant Chips fan who thinks you're too good for the MAC anymore.

I never thought that, even in the best of times.

What I DID think, though, is that it would be nice to be in a league that garners a little more respect nationally than what the MAC does.

There's a few leagues out there that fit that description, don't you think?

If there were a better conference out there wanting to add NIU, they wouldn't be in the MAC at the moment. NIU fans can wish in one hand and schit in the other and see which one fills up faster. Sure playing the weak MAC teams will bring down NIU's rankings just like when Akron, Buffalo, and Kent play NIU in hoops, their RPIs take a hit. As good as NIU is in football, they are even worse in basketball. They are literally the EMU football of college basketball.

Sure those teams that you mentioned would have a few more wins in the MAC but they'd all fall somewhere between the two groups of Ball State, NIU, Buffalo, BG, and Toledo and the rest of the MAC. They'd probably be competitive with Ohio and beat most of the 6 teams you mentioned. Nothing to get excited about.

Here's one thing to consider. If those teams would have more wins than they currently do if they played in the MAC, would NIU have as many wins if they played in a tougher conference? The next time NIU bottoms out, should they be kicked out of the MAC?
