Don't blame the Saudis. Iran may already have a nuke, as the tests in North Korea seem to be different designs. Iran co-develops a weapon with North Korea, tests in North Korea.

Iran is going for a Uranium Bomb which is less complex than a Plutonium weapon.

North Korean and Iranian missiles are basically carbon copies.

Aren't all of these weapons derivative of the Norks? I could understand that Pakistan has more access to materials to have a Plutonium program, but I thought at least the weapons design was purchased in whole from the Norks. Delivery systems are another thing altogether... Iran and Nork are collaborating, but the Saudis seem to have purchased COTS missiles from China, sans payload. I'm not sure, but I seem to recall that Pakistan worked with the Norks on missile systems, but worked more independently than Iran is.
Comes back time after time that our real enemy is Saudi Arabia.
Pure and simple. Most of the 9/11 people were from there and many prominent terrorists.
Without Saudi money the Middle East would be a lot less in an upheaval.
They are the world's best of a smile, slap on the back, and then stick a dagger into the same back.

Nork's obtained a Plutonium Design from AQ Khan. They had some fizzles. Then they started testing a Uranium Design that came from somewhere. The Uranium design works, but is too big to serve as a Primary in a Multi-Stage Thermonuclear device.

Both the North Korean and Iranian Centrifuges are based on a Pakistani design

The US won't stop a transfer because the thinking is it would deter Iran. But MAD Theory doesn't work with Muslim Fundamentalist Nutjobs of either the Shia or Sunni persuasion.
Saudis have no choice but to keep up with the ayatollahs.

I suspect they privately wish that US + Israel would take care of business. But unless/until that happens, they cannot let Iran emerge as the (real or perceived) military leader of the Muslim nations.

Well, the whole reason for the fear is that one of these nukes ends up in the hands of a terrorist. Not having them in Saudi helps ease that fear just a bit.
You cannot complain about being involved in the ME and simultaneously detest a Saudi deterrent. If we aren't going to do their work, and we shouldn't, then whatever.
Our ally should worry us more than our enemy.

The Saudi Government won't be around long. A nuclear armed extremist state like that would make Iran look like a life-long friend.

True. We have all grown up with the line that Saudi Arabia is an allie but they only use us as they do everyone. The Royal family is only royal because Western powers went along with it.

Saudi likes us because we contain Iran. Iran is Saudi's real enemy.

Iran is the Arab world's biggest enemy. Far more so than Israel.

If he negotiated with Congress like he does with, well, the enemies of the United States, then he'd be the most bipartisan president ever.
