Quote:Manaus: Portuguese defender Bruno Alves suffered a muscle injury to join the list of injured players who will miss the FIFA World Cup Group G game against the United States on Sunday.

The Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) said that the Fenerbahçe defender suffered a muscle strain in his left thigh and will miss the team's training session. Alves will receive needed treatment, reports EFE.

Alves's absence will push national coach Paulo Bento to reshuffle his defence line-up after Pepe received a red card against Germany for head-butting Thomas Mueller. The probables to play in defence against US are Luis Neto and Ricardo Costa.

Alves is the latest to join the list of injured Portuguese players after forward Hugo Almeida, goalkeeper Rui Patricio and Real Madrid's Fabio Coentrao.
Yep Clint Dempsey, pride of Nacogdoches.
Well that sucked
Well we need Ghana to win by one

Need them to tie then we can rest some players early and play some substitutes. If any team wins we need Portugal to win by 1. They have a -4 goal differential, Ghana is -1.
Dang it both games will be played at same time on Thursday 12:00 eastern

That was the first soccer game I have ever watched. What am I supposed to feel after that?
Kick it into the corner Bradley.

No kidding..........he choked on a sure goal earlier, and gave it up at midfield at the most crucial moment in the match when we had a sure 3 points.

I'd opt for pure rage at Bradley's play, but then I'm still pissed, so feel free to feel something different. 03-pissed

That we gave the game away. I felt we dominated the game but 2 lazy D plays defined it. Not discouraged but disappointed. It was ours and we didn't close.

I'm depressed over a futbol game? Wow!
I know zip about soccer, but to my untrained eyes it looked like the Americans just half-assed it for the last five minutes or so. Would that be accurate?

We really did outplay Portugal. A couple of bad touches from a 2-0 3or 3-1 win. Still in a good spot, but would have been nice to punch our ticket to the knockout round already. This team has heart and a world class goalie. That can you a long way.

Think "prevent" defense and tonight reminds me of the UCF football game last year. Outplayed them, had it won, and them bam!! Heck, it wasn't even really a prevent defense. It was a fumble at midfield when you should have been taking a knee.

He didn't choke on the sure goal earlier. He placed it on the volley on frame with the keeper out. Roberto Costa made an amazing clearance. Sometimes the other team makes amazing plays.

I really thought we, for the most part, played stoppage time well. I did wish we still would've attacked when in their part of the field. I get that the "smart" play is to get the ball in the corner and kill time....but we were striking so well that I felt we had them on their heels. We should've stayed the aggressor IMO.

Bradley, Jones, and Beckerman had absolutely nothing left....especially Bradley. If you want to blame someone for the draw, blame Cameron. ****** the clearance on the first goal and let his man in front of him on the 2nd. You can't let your man in front of you at that point. You have to body him and stop his run.

Hell, trip him outside of the box if you must. It's the last dang 45 seconds go the game.

Bradley should've just huffed it to the corner. However, his give away was 70 yards from goal. The real questions are:

1) why is Beasley on an island with Ronaldo in the 95th minute?

2) why did Cameron let his man in front of him?

The 2nd question is the big one.

If Cameron gets his shoulder in front of Elder we win that game. He has to get in front of him.
