We have to win 4 out of the next 5 games. 3 of them are home games. If we can beat MTSU this Saturday we will gain a lot of confidence. Beat either Marshall (hell, a coach that was smoking pot almost beat them and MTSU beat them) or East Carolina. Then we take care of business at home against Rice and Southern Miss. Hell, lets win them all! Some of you might hate me for posting this and some of you guys choose to be debbie downers. Hope to see you guys there Saturday supporting our team. Bleed green and gold. Just win baby.

Agreed. It should be interesting, coach McGee said we would be using the same system just with JP at QB. Hopefully it doesn't mean our running backs are just mop up guys in the second halves of the rest of our games. MTSU is giving up 197 yards rushing per game. Run the ball from kickoff til the clock hits 0:00. Defense will step up at some point if our offense will do the same as far as early in the game goes.
I'll be holding onto hope. They are all winnable until you step on the field and prove yourself right.
Just win
True, MT beat Marshall, but they had to put together a game-winning drive for the ages after leading for most of the contest, to include the last play of the game with only 0:04 left in regulation. Marshall's defense tightened up and locked down when they had to in order to take the lead late, but couldn't do so on MT's last march to the endzone. If they get up on UAB like they did on Marshall, have a couple of beers ready for me, UAB's defense is not Marshall has to grow up and grow up now.

Conference USA football is "on the job training", & it's dismaying that so many of the newcomers to our conference have already learned what it takes to be a winner/contender in their maiden voyage.

Although there is still a chance to become bowl eligible, 4 of UAB's remaining 5 games are against conference contenders, in addition to MT, @East Carolina, @Marshall, then back here for Rice and Southern Miss, the latter of which may still be winless by the time they get here, and no opponent is more dangerous than one that has nothing else to lose, they'll play the best game of their season against the Blazers, believe that.

UAB's chances of getting to a bowl under these circumstances, some of which are self-orchestrated, are quite remote and, IMO, border on insurmountible. Nothing would make me 02-13-banana than for the Blazers to go out and prove me wrong, but until that defense stands and delivers finally, game in and game out for the remainder of this season, I don't like their chances.

They'd be in much better shape had they done what they were supposed to do when they crossed swords with Troy and Florida Atlantic when they did, these losses are going to come back, IMO, to haunt UAB.
There is no we we lose 1 game or less the rest of the way. We got stomped by 2 of the worst teams in the conference, and we're suddenly going to turn it around and start beating the best teams? At this point, I really just hope we beat ECU to ruin their season before they head on to bigger and better places.

Oh, I'll be there, and I'm hoping the Blazers bring and win the fight. But I saw this team last week...This ain't no day off for UAB at all, it would be great if UAB could jump them early to keep them down, but realistically, it wouldn't take much for this game to "go south" on the Blazers if they aren't mentally and physically prepared to go into battle against MT.

It happens on the movies all the time. 02-13-banana
Just finish strong. Beat MTSU.
Control the clock, eliminate mistakes, and give yourself a chance in the 4th quarter.

Watson Brown used to say that, and like it or not, he's the only guy that's won at UAB since going to Division I-A (I know. He lost a lot too, and he did other things that set us back, but still.)
This team is not a bowl caliber team. We have one(1) FBS win 7 games into the season. This despite playing three of our four weakest FBS opponents already. After Saturday, the only game remaining where we won't be double digit underdogs is the Southern Miss game. Cheer on our team, but don't put unrealistic expectations on them.

Every team should have expectations and they should be high expectations.

And if they don't have expectations then what the hell are they playing for?

A "Bowl caliber team" is one who wins enough games to be one. UAB could have won the Troy game IF it had not had that 2nd half "meltdown" on the order of Chernobel. That tainted every game after that so the whole season might have been different had we maintained intensity in that first game. No, we will never know for sure - it's just my opinion.

I have seen teams "catch fire" when all they have been taught suddenly "clicks" and the game becomes more manageable. We will see if this happens with a new QB who has perhaps been given an opportunity to find his rhythm.
Did you really just compare a football game to Chernobyl?

Don't bother, JC. This group has already given up. Hopefully the team has a better outlook. The worse thing in the world for some of these guys would be that the team starts winning and they are forced to clean egg off their face. I'm sure the story would be that the team perservered despite horrible coaching. Or there would be complaints because we didn't win big enough. Wait. That already happened.

Memphis, you're 100% right.

What's your average? And if it reads like a challenge...Well....It is!
Just win the next game.

It reads more like a derailment.
