1. Baylor
2. Texas A&M
3. Texas Tech
4. Texas
5. Houston
6. Rice
The demolition of lowly UTEP was impressive, but did you notice that Charles Ross is 14th nationally in rushing yards per game (116 yards per game)? Ahead of guys like T.J. Yeldon and Jeremy Hill. He's been quietly excellent.
7. TCU
8. North Texas
Do you believe in the Mean Green yet? A win away from bowl eligibility, which would be huge for the program. QB Derek Thompson has really grown up this season.
9. Texas State
10. SMU
11. UTSA
Scoring 24 first-quarter points the Roadrunners cruised to a 21-point victory over UAB. UTSA needs to win three of itslast four to become bowl eligible. Unfortunately they may only be favored in one of their remaining games (Tulane).
12. UTEP
There's just not much good to say about the Miners these days. The defense (467.7 yards allowed per game, 108th nationally) is porous. The offense is inconsistent. The brightest spot in an otherwise dark season: freshman RB Aaron Jones, who is 20th nationally in rushing.

No way TC-boo is ahead of us.
Rice over TCU is interesting ... UTSA may be favored against Tulane? Really?
How in the hell will be favored over Tulane?!? I think the only game where we will be a favorite is La Tech. Tulsa line is only 3 which is the home spread given

We should have passed TCU a while ago...UNT should also be ahead of them. Other than a close showing vs. OU, they haven't done anything...only 2 fbs wins against terrible SMU and Kansas (who we also beat). Don't see why UTSA is behind SMU either. I think the top is probably accurate
Since officially joining the Big <XII, TCU is 10-11, 5-9 in conference. Two of their victories were against FCS opponents.

TCU got good at the right time, now they're sliding back but safely in the big 12

Of all the schools that have participated in C-USA at one time or another, they are the only ones that I wish had been kept out.

I'm going to enjoy watching their program wither on the vine, serving as UT's (and Baylor's, and TT's, and OU's, etc, etc.) b*tch.
Surprising to see Texas State ahead of UTSA. Yes, they have a better record, but they don't have better wins. Their schedule is pretty weak compared to UTSA, they've beaten the likes of South Alabama, Southern Miss, and Georgia State...not exactly powerhouses. Meanwhile, UTSA was playing, and losing, to the likes of Arizona, Oklahoma State, and Houston.

Texas State also beat a 4-4 Wyoming team.

And Wyoming has only beat Idaho (1-7), a FCS school, Air Force (1-7) and New Mexico (2-5) Powerhouses there....
UTSA is in the vague position of having no really "bad" losses, but also no "good" wins. They've beaten 3 teams ranging from weak (UAB) to very weak (UTEP), and lost to 5 teams ranging from good (@Marshall) to very good (Okie State).

TSU has beaten two teams (Wyoming, South Alabama) that are better than anybody UTSA has beaten. But they've also lost to ULM (at home), which is worse than anybody UTSA's lost to.

When You add it all up, it's very very close. But I would probably put TSU just slightly ahead for the moment. Season's not over yet.
As a former TCU fan (lots of family ties and other connections), I have been pondering their journey. Twenty years ago, they were a doormat in a major conference. Now, they are on the verge of once again being a doormat in a major conference. Has the struggle been for naught? I think for some the journey ended with acceptance into the BigXII, but I think there is one step left, and that is to become a consistent power in that conference. It still could go either way, but if they don't get there quick, likely they won't get there at all.

Any way you look at it, they are farther along the path all of us want to take. We can all enjoy a measure of schadenfreunde (hope I spelled that right - I took second year German at TCU) over their struggles now, but the story is still being told.

As for the current instate rankings, I think that either or both of UNT and Rice deserve to be ranked ahead of them, and certainly after Thursday one at least will be. Perhaps at the end of the year, when it really matters, both will be. In coming years, UTSA will be in that mix.

Baylor had a much higher hill to climb before Art Briles arrived, and look how that has turned out.

I'm okay with your logic although I think if we played today UTSA would beat them AGAIN. I really enjoyed that you called Texas State (TSU)...they hate that

We'll have a better shot of beating La Tech than Tulane IMO. Last game of season and at home.

Tech is a lot better than their record indicates. I think Tech wins a close one and Tulane actually gets some separation.

I'm unimpressed with UTSA.

And I am doubly unimpressed with NTU especially with some of their arrogant posters.
