A drunk driving checkpoint will be held on Colerain Avenue in Mt. Airy tonight, the Hamilton County OVI Task Force announced this morning.
Officers will check for motorists impaired by alcohol and/or drugs starting at 9 p.m. It will end at 1 a.m.
The location in the 5100 block of US-27 was chosen through a site selection process that focuses on the frequency and severity of the impaired driving problem in the area, police say.
Since Oct. 1, 2012, 28 OVI-related crashes have been reported in the area of the checkpoint, including one that resulted in two fatalities and three more resulting in serious injuries. During the same time period, the Cincinnati Police Department made 58 OVI arrests in that area.
