Agree, great speech.

Sounds like Jimmy Dykes thinks a lot of Coach Shields. Obviously, he wasn't going to say anything bad about him to the team. But, I doubt he would have driven down here from Fayetteville if he didn't think highly of him. Still it would be interesting to know what others in the "business" think of him. I have a feeling most coaches don't like to play a Shields-coached team because they know they will play hard and leave it all on the floor. ASU fans don't hate him because they think he is a bad coach- if he was a bad coach they would love him.

You think maybe the reason he came down was because of his friend Joe Klein? What's his record against ASU over ten years? That could be the answer to your ASU fan part of the question.

I assume it is around .500. Maybe a little better. Pretty typical for a rivalry.
If you have not listed to this you should.
I wonder how frequently he does this sort of thing. He is pretty good at it.
that speech has been given by him a bunch of times. he covers his points and speaks well.
Jimmy has really done well for himself in the broadcasting field. Glad to see him supporting the Trojans.

Do you think that in every speech like this that he's given a "bunch of times," that he praises Coach Shields in all his speeches?

Oh come on Kerry, you mean to tell me that when he gives this talk at Duke, Syracuse, North Carolina, Kentucky, and etc., that he tells all these teams how great Shields is. Most of these people wouldn't even know who Steve Shields is. How many folks out of the Sun Belt could tell you any Sun Belt coaches names. I ain't buying that horse Kerry.

Probably doesn't need to outside our circle.
LOL, bob he changes the coaches name to fit the school.

OK I'll buy that. Yes, that's exactly what I thought. Every team he speaks to has the best coach in the country.
Now that makes sense!
