Scrap the 3-4 defensive scheme, its been a complete failure. Go back to the 4-3. Find yourself 6 300 lb DT's you can rotate throughout the game. I would suggest moving Green back to DT and taking the redshirt off of Andra Smith. Teach them to play low technique so they want get knocked back into the LB's. Send the DE's straight up the field and funnel all running plays to the middle, this should allow the linebackers to come up and make the tackles. Have all corners play inside technique and take away slants, squire ins and curls, this will funnel all pass plays to the outside. Most of the QB's in this league cannot make those outside throws on a consistant basis. Move Ganus to SS where he can play run supports, Move Jimmy Jean to FS where he can make a play on all deep throws, Move Chris Rabb to LB he to good of a playmaker to be standing on the sideline most of the time. Take Redshirt off the two Clay-Chalkville guys and put them on the field because I know for a fact they can tackle.

I don't think you're overzealous at at all, & nothing they're doing is working, so I hope they/he heeds your advice, IMO, it's good quality advice.

Actually, you are making a heck of a lot of sense. Spot on about Rabb, and the C-C guys.
Burn every single redshirt you have and teach them how to play defense. And quickly.

It's so simple, don't know about Ganus at SS as of right now everything else brilliant. Never understood redshirting the CC kids they should both play don't care if it's special teams. Watkins and Walton are pretty good at DE. Jimmy would take away the deep play for sure at FS with his range and bball skill also we didn't use him right on offense think fade and jump ball routes McGee CJ/JJ type of big plays for Jean.
All of our Coaches got their jobs because Calloway and his bunch couldn't stop anybody. As far as I am concerned UAB can fire all of them now. McGee came in talking about qb's and wr's and scoring points which don't mean anything when you're getting whipped at the line of scrimmage. Then he only brought in 1 DT after last years defensive fiasco. All of this tells me he don't have a clue how to win games. It's a reason people aren't showing up at Legion Field. You can't fool anyone in the South about football and we know a poorly coached football team when we see one.

Got Pickren at TE with no catch or a target, got Ejike at LB redshirting, moved Byrd to the OLine to start over a guy who started nine games last year, and flipped a USM OL commit and placed him on defense(quick feet lol) who left.
I don't think the offense is poorly coached, and this week it sounds like they're doing all they can (within NCAA regulations and financial constraints) to fix this stuff. I think it took getting lit up by a team significantly worse than us to give McGee enough ammo to justify making a change midseason. Troy is good. We were pretty sure LSU was going to light us up. Vandy was another paycheck so while we thought we would play better, you can explain that score away a little. And we screwed around some in the FCS game with kicking off each half, and it was our first week to try the new aggressive pass coverage. FAU is the first game where the result was completely unexpected, ridiculous, and stupid, and I think it's being reacted to appropriately so far. We'll find out what good it does us Saturday.
No one should be redshirting right now. We don't have that luxury. If they are good enough to play, get them out there now.
Good coaches win games they should lose and bad coaches lose games they should win (i.e. Troy, FAU). All I've seen out of this bunch so far is incompetance.
Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country.

This should be the case at all times. You put your best players on the field, period. I don't care about age, height, weight, position, etc.
If your backup QB is your best safety, then move his ass to safety and find a new QB. Why would you waste a player on your roster by not playing him?
At this point though, I say keep the redshirts on guys who could be impact players. We already have 4 losses, and 3 more seem all but certain at this point. I'd rather have them ready for the start of next season than burn their redshirts for a lost cause. Next year though, I'd like to see some changes in our rotations and how the freshmen are handled. If they're ready to play, play them early and often.
The 3-4 should be thrown out of the playbook. 4-3 should be the base from here on out, mixed with the 4-2 and 3-3. 4-3 to stop the run. 4-2 to stop both. You can walk a safety down in the box to support the run. 3-3 to stop the pass. I would blitz out of all them 50% of the time.
All I know is, I saw the most talented UAB team in 7-8 years at the Troy game, and since then the only thing we have done is regress. That is coaching.

I don't think it's a lost cause. I say burn those shirts so we can steal one or two of those "certain losses" so we have a better product to sell to the new recruits in the offseason. If we go 3-9 again, the cycle of losing will probably affect us next year. I'm not sure how many more losing seasons this program can survive. This is almost an emergency situation. It's bad.
