While lots of analogies can be made, this is the fact, not just analogy: the cheater ants immigrated into the existing successful colony, and took resources the natives produced there so they could outbreed the natives. More natives switched from reproduction to foraging to provide for the growing brood, which led to a continuing downward spiral for the existence of the original colony.
