Not happy about it, but very necessary. It had to be done...
Glad he's staying on the staff, hopefully he can flourish in his new role. If not, then, oh well...
Quote:McGee said he didn't expect there to be any staff chemistry problems after Johnson was demoted, but not fired.

Really?

It usually doesn't work that way in the real world, does it Smaug?

Not in the one I live in, anyway.
I bet he is gone at the end of the season. (Reggie)

I would like to see him bring in an experienced DC for next season but I won't hold my breath.
I think BamaBlazerfan probably nailed it. He has a contract and we are not buying it out. Plus we wouldn't be able to bring anyone in to replace Williams position mid season.

It makes sense.

And it happens in the real world all the time, that someone isn't cutting it in one position and is given the opportunity to move to another position.

I know Johnson's salary is $250,000 a year.......quite a bit higher than any of the other assistants pay. Not sure if he is under contract, but he could very well be.
We're UAB where we don't have as much money to pay off someone to leave (I assume we'd have to pay out his salary for this year if we let him go) plus we have a hard time firing people so it's not a surprise to me that it was just a reassignment but I would assume if there's no drastic improvement, there will be wholesale defensive staff changes in the offseason. I did find it odd to begin w/ that the assoc HC wasn't a coordinator & that someone was above him.

Here is what's really odd:
Johnson $21,333 a month
Williams $11,333 a month

Williams will probably make a little more now though......or at least when they redo the salaries.

What would the "real world" look like if run under NCAA rules and regulations?

It is sort of like the USPS wants to end Saturday delivery to cut costs, but CONGRESS won't permit it - the same Congress that is in the news today for the shutdown.

I didn't say it doesn't happen. I've just never seen it happen without it being a problem.
I for one will be happy to see a four man front McGee hinted at for FIU. Glad him made the change would've went Williams or Peoples both seem to be great recruiters.
You would think McGee would know by now what JP is better at than AB. 01-wingedeagle
I'd be alright with him resigning and giving us all our money back.
I wish I made $11,000 per month. Just sayin'.....
Williams is already very well off.

the same congress that required them to prefund 50years worth of pension benefits over a ten year period and refused to allow them to close underused branches?

I would love to see JP start just to read all of the AB is better than JP threads that would spring up.
