No matter how we got where we are right now, Huggins is most definitely the enemy now 05-mafia This kinda sucks, hopefully UC hires a good one because I am looking forward to Mick trying to maintain that Bearcat buff persona.

Quote:Scott Greenawalt, who has been a strength and conditioning coach at Cincinnati for the past eight seasons, will take over the same role at
Kansas State.
According to UC's website, Greenawalt was the assistant strength coach. Tim Swanger is the head coach.

And this ought to help in finding a new strength coach -

... the University of Cincinnati will unveil its new strength training facility that will rival the best in the United States. This 16,200 square foot room will become the Big East?s finest collection of strength, cardiovascular, and abdominal core training equipment. Twenty-five double-sided power racks will spotlight the featured power area. There will be five sets of customized stainless steel dumbbells from 5 lbs. to 150 lbs along with the newest selectorized machines available.

The $200,000 cardiovascular area will feature ten Desmopro Woodway Treadmills, six overspeed treadmills for high intensity training, ten elliptical trainers, many bikes and step machines. Also, there will be a 10 by 60 yard field turf running surface indoors in order to enhance all the athletes speed training needs and provide an alternative training surface for U.C.?s 17 varsity sports.

Awesome, feel much better now. I love Huggs, just stay away from the Bearcat program for now ;-)
Bearcat Fan, I seem to remember Bostic is on Swanger's staff, as well?
I kinda got this feeling that Huggs will do anything he can to get back at UC...he leaves UC with a $3 mil buyout, gets a new job...so he's making double salaries for the next few years...quite the gig if you can get it....
Based on their web site bios it looks like Scott was the guy in charge of the basketball strength and conditioning, but there have to be plenty of guys that are capable and would love to work in that new facility.
Yes Swanger is the main man. The Coach that truly turned around UC's strength and conditioning was Mickey Mariotti. Coach Mariotti is currently at U Fla (hired by Urban Meyer) after leaving UC for Notre Dame. Scott Greenwalt is a class guy and knows his stuff. I don't see this as "sticking it to UC".

Just as a side note I read where UC is going to cut 22 million out of the budget. Hope this new strength facility is already paid for. Don

Yes it is paid for; mostly by the success of the Bearcat Basketball program over the last 16 years or so and the Leadership of AD Goin.

I guess Notre Dame and Florida are doing whatever they can to screw UC.

People hire others whom they are comfortable with, simple as that. Huggins is hiring guys that he knows and that have the same views as him... not a big deal.

I knew that I never could trust Notre Dame ;-) , I don't necessarily think that Huggins is setting out to do that, but the perception of that for Bearcat fans is likely to be there for another year or two until Mick gets established, the Mayo/Walker recruitment is over with, etc.

lmfao
it's UC versus the world...just the way we like it....

Yeah, Huggs will do anything to "GET" uc. Heaven forbid it has anything to do with trying to hire good people, implementing at KSU the same heavy emphasis he had on strength training while at UC.

I am sure we'll find a suitable replacement.
You always want to stick it to your former employer...no matter what field of employment you are in...that's just the nature of the beast...no knock on Huggs...
The guy at the end of the bench is gone? Could never figure out why the strength coach has to be on the bench during the game or in the huddle. What does he contribute to the huddle "Be strong" ?

NOTE: I'm not trying to diminish the guy's accomplishments with the strength program.
I dont get the problem...

most coaches like to have their own strength/conditioning coaches with which they are familiar.

It's not like Mick hasnt done the SAME exact thing. He took assistants with him from Murray State because he felt comfortable with them.
