Like him or hate him the dude has no problem speaking his mind.

Quote:"I still don't know how (Texas) A&M was third in the country in total offense and scoring offense playing all those SEC defenses. I have no idea how that happened," Stoops said. "Oh, they got a quarterback. That's right."

Big Game Bob should at least wait until he actually wins the Big 12 before making such statements. Especially, since that quarterback wiped the field with his defense at the end of last season.
It seems to me he's saying that SEC defenses are generally very very good and its almost impossible to roll up good yardage against them unless you have an elite college QB. It sounds to me like he's complimenting both the SEC and A&M.
SEC had a 2 or 3 year period with no good QBs other than Aaron Murray.

I thought he was saying that the SEC defenses usually look so good because they don't have a lot of great QB's in that conference. Not saying he is correct but I think that what he was insinuating.
It seems to me the B12 and Stoops in particular spends a huge amount of time worrying and complaining about the SEC when they should be more worried about themselves.
Stoops doesn't have to worry about Oklahoma. They've already passed their biggest test of the season. After Holgorsen puts it to Baylor this weekend, that will become more apparent...

The SEC used to to the same thing when the Big 10 was on top, and it is sad thinking back on it. I'm glad the SEC coaches, even Spurrier somehow, avoid throwing barbs or answering back to guys like Big Game Bob. I think Brett Bielema is a perfect case example of what should happen when your conference is on top; always compliment, never poke.
I think Stoops is a VERY insecure, petty man. People excuse his idiocy as just him being "a competitor" and that will continue as long as his teams win. When his teams cease winning, he will once again be seen as an flaming arsehole - which is exactly what he would be considered in most other lines of work.

Are you serious? Spurrier always talks.

Stoops is right. The prior couple of years the SEC had the sorriest bunch of QBs they have had in a long time. The Big 12 had an incredible group.

Spurrier only jabs in conference. He never takes it toward other conferences as a general statement. If he is playing Michigan or Oklahoma in a bowl game, sure, he will be his usual self on game week, but he never talks about other conferences like Big Game Bob.

I'll take what he's saying over lame, say-nothing coachspeak that we are constantly innundated with from most coaches.

Agreed. Stir it up a little, guys. Don't tell him to shut up; just fire back. Let's hear Saban or Miles respond with some crack about how OU's defense got lit up by JFF just like some of those SEC defenses.

I guess the old "walk the walk, don't talk the talk" is why the SEC coaches do not take the bait. If you want to hear them spout off, bring up no huddle offense and the NCAA leadership.
Saban did respond to Stoops' offseason comments about SEC "propaganda".
The no huddle offense has made its way into the NFL, and most of the rest of the nation in college football. The SEC can debate its benefits all they want. But its the coming trend. They can ignore it, but they do so at their own peril...

I'm no SEC fan, but I remember him saying something derogatory about the SEC last year that really blew up in his face when the same A&M team beat the rails off his team. If I were big game bob, I might bite my tongue.
Nobody's recruiting has suffered worse from our move than Oklahoma's so of course he has nothing but negativity to say about the SEC.
What a whiner.

It always comes back to aTm eh Mountain? Can't decide who is more self-absorbed, you or Bob Stoops? I'm an OU fan/alum, and Bob should just shut up and kick some SEC ass on the field. I am starting to see some chinks in the SEC armor. Bring it, dont sing it Bob.
