Another nice in-state road win for the Green Wave today. 3-game road swings are hard, and you guys won 2. Well done.

And that close loss to South Alabama doesn't look so bad after USA beat Western Kentucky and played Tennessee to within 7 at Neyland.

Has Coach Johnson turned things around in New Orleans? Will the Green Wave go bowling this year and enter next year's new stadium era with a head of steam?

UTEP at home and FAU on the road are very winnable. That would get you 5 wins. Just need 1 more . . .
Thanks. This was a surprising victory given how the team won. Rushing the ball and forcing five turnovers. Also, this team beat us soundly in the dome a year ago so perhaps it is a good barometer for the program making progress.

I don't know about bowls but most people did not have TU winning two of three consecutive road games. The team has a lot to improve on but at least for a night it feels good to have a win

Let's see what they do against N Texas this week.

The North Texas game is HUGE for Tulane's program. I'm being serious. UNT is a pretty good team from what I've heard (I've not watched them play) and similar to ECU's win over UNC today, it would be a statement game for Coach Johnson to beat them in only his second year. If he can get him to a bowl this year, it would be great for the AAC's rep going forward.

Well of course, we all hope so!

Honestly, I have believed since before the season started that Tulane would probably go 6-6. That prediction included a record of 2-3 at this point of the season, and of course we are now 3-2. So yes I think a minor postseason game like New Orleans Bowl or something like that is well within reach.

I don't think of North Texas as terrible, but neither do I think beating them would be in the same category as ECU's win over UNC. To be candid, I think that beating UNT at home is easier than beating LT & ULM on the road. But we'll see how that goes.
Congrats to Tulane. ULM is no slouch, they beat Arkansas last year and came within a TD at FL.
He's stabilized things...removed the abject incompetence. The recruiting has been better. What we need this year is another jump in our recruiting. A bowl would really help to make that happen. And then we'll need another jump.

Well we certainly ought to go to a bowl from this position and against this schedule. Only ECU on our remaining schedule looks daunting. We have a big game next week against UNT who is playing pretty well and had an extra week to prepare. If we can beat UNT, the fans (such as they are right now) should return for ECU.

We're running the ball and playing pretty good defense for the most part (although we've had a couple of significant lapses in D). The OL is a work in process and struggles to protect the QB. I'm not sold on the Saints system for us, as we've had to take out some of the nuances. One thing I like about Coach Johnson is that he delegates to his assistants and coordinators and tries to spend his time being head coach.

This, x100
I think you guys have a great shot at beating Tulsa this year.
Yay! sleeping well tonight
Very relieved. To be 3-2 right now. Also optimistic for 6 wins now. One thing I have noticed last year and this year is this staff and these players are HARD workers. We also make adjustments constantly. Let's just say that Tulane is more serious about winning football from the top down more than I've seen in my 25 yrs of being a fan. Let's hope it keeps up. On to the next most important game.UNT.

Glad to hear it - this is important. I remember one trip to New Orleans back when Toledo was coaching. The paper had an article about how Tulane's football team essentially went home for the summer. That it was too costly to have the players in summer school (where they could work out together).

Might as well not play FBS if that's the attitude. You can't waste 3 months a year and expect to compete. I think Tulane fixed this problem a couple of years back, but that's just one example of how a school commits to winning football games.
Slept like a baby! roll wave! we only have to win 3 of the next 7!!!!!

Gotta start somewhere. It all starts with your first minor bowl just like ours back in '97 with the Humanitarian Bowl.
One step at a time.

First, a bowl
Bowl helps recruiting
More fan support
Greater expectations

Congrats

We probably need 7 wins. And we should get it if we work hard and keep improving. C-USA won't exactly have us on the top of its bowl priority list.
Gotta win 2 of these 3 coming up at home.

I'm happy for you guys, that you're turning it around etc. But don't minimize what ECU did--going on the road and routing North Carolina and compare it to beating a Sun Belt team at home. There's nothing at all similar in the two situations. But I'm glad you guys are winning.04-cheers
UNT is a good team.

You do realize that it was an ECU fan who made that "Comparison", right? And his point wasn't that UNT= UNC anyway. It's just that they are each important games for our respective programs in their current situations.
And he's right. This UNT game is huge for us for a number of reasons. And for one, if we win, there will actually be some fans in the dome for the ECU game. But even more, if we win, we will have a shot at playing ECU twice this year!
