A good story about the Rockets. Looks like we need to make a special effort to secure the ball this week.

Our defense has boats now? They could have used those at Eastern last year.

No Western has all of the boats... Can't anyone get this straight?

You beat me to it- I don't want to start a big row but I don't know whether to praise you oar paddle you.
Fluellen is only the leading rusher in total yards. Lynch leads by a comfortable margin in YPG.

One game against UF might skew Lynch's #'s downward.
Sounds like he would rather be at Toledo... Lots more positives here than in BSU as far as the program goes.

BSU hasn't played a good defense yet, but Toledo's defense hasn't played a team that throws quite like BSU does. Mizzou utilized a very different style of pass, an over the top throw to tall wide outs game. BSU gets on the edge and will screen the hell out of us (Eric Page-esq). Personally I don't see us giving up 40+ like BSU has done to 3/4 opponents. I do see us giving them cushion and making them drive the ball. Turnovers will be key just like last week and could decide the game.

BSU gave up a lot of points to some lesser offenses. I see Flu rushing for 200+ with a decent pass game mixed in. Hopefully no turnovers on our part. BSU will make us pay in short field situations.

If they kick to Reedy, Bernard will score. I assume they'll learn from CMU and EWU and keep it away from him.

Prediction: Rockets 41- Balls Tate 31 (I believe this will be the closes MAC game we play all season with the exception of BG)

BSU beat the Rockets last year by nickel and diming the Rockets to death. I was so frustrated with that game because BSU recognized that UT was content playing the DBs 15 yards off the line of scrimmage so they through quick passes at the line and the WRs gained 3, 4, and 5 yards per play. That's all they needed to keep driving down the field all game long. If the Rockets do that again this year we'll see the same final result. However, I don't see that happening. Last week I saw the DBs playing at the line of scrimmage and it seems the coaches trust the defensive backfield more this year. The key to winning this game I feel is to play the DBs at the line bumping the receivers and sending LBs and safeties in on blitzes to rush and drop Wenning.

Have I stated yet that I LOVE our defense and in no way think it looks like any other MAC defense I can ever recall seeing? It looks to me like a P5 defense. I watched Flu's interview and he talked about the defense...he said something like "those guys are incredible...they are DBs in linebacker bodies." I feel that our defensive players are big like P5 defenses and just as athletic as they are big.

BTW, I really appreciate all the respect that their HC gave our program.

I do think we will get to Wenning, but I still think they'll have over 300 passing because of throws under the corners. Better a 4 minute drive with 3 first downs, than a 30 second drive and a TD for 60 over our heads.
Under 100 rushing yards allowed also...
Toledo 490 total vs. BSU 420 for yards.

You're overestimating the talent of Wenning and underestimating the talent of UF's, Mizzou's, and EWU's QBs. UT's SOS thru 4 games is #22 and BSU's is #175. BSU has put up plenty of points but against real crappy teams. If UT plays like they're capable of , Rockets win this one by 2-3 TD's.
I have no idea how our D will do against them, but I know one thing; our offense has to be a lot more effective than it was last year or it will be a long ride home. This game will be very telling as regards our chances of winning the division. Of course, that isn't exactly a revelation.

SEAL training me thinks
Watching extended highlights of Ball State at North Texas, the Mean Green blasted Ball State receivers and ball carriers causing fumbles and dropped passes primarily
in the second half holding Wenning and crew scoreless. From my viewing of Ball State this season, NTU was the most physical team they have faced .... until Saturday.
The fourth qtr of WMU game needs to happen again. We got the lead and powered it down their throats. Game over.

After watching the Florida and Missouri games, that's how I feel about the Rockets in all the MAC games. Besides NIU, BG, and BSU, I feel like the Rockets should jump out to a huge lead in the first half so that they can rest the starters in the second half and get playing time and experience for the younger guys but I know that's not Campbell's style. For some reason, it seems like the coaches give way in the first few series of the games to get a look at what the other team is doing and then they settle in and play to what they've seen so far. I understand this strategy but I'd like to see Toledo come with the hammer right away and make some teams try to play catch up from like 21 down.

Oh, and I really feel like in terms of those three mentioned that BSU will be the toughest, then BG, then NIU. It probably sounds crazy since NIU owns the last 3 against the Rockets but it's a new year with new teams and NIU seems very soft relative to the past. And I don't think NIU has seen a defense as good as Toledo's even including Iowa.
