Guys, what are your thoughts on this? We essentially have our best team ever, or at least on paper...most of us realize we aren't going to the championship game, because of no marquee games to play/win...if 1 is even enough I'm not sure. But its well known we were a sub for VTech if they pulled out vs Bama, ESPN tried getting A&M to move the Rice game for us, and there were at least talks with Michigan and tOSU for this year, but the details of those talks haven't been revealed.

I wonder if tOSU feels just as sick to the stomach as we do that this game didn't get scheduled and played this past weekend, say in Paul Brown Stadium. A sidebar to all of this, is if the President Gee comments about UL, ND, etc played a part in squashing any real talks between UL and tOSU.

But my opinion is that there could have been a defacto semi final to the national championship game in Paul Brown stadium this past weekend instead of both winning by 70+ to zero respectively. Each school can afford to pay off FIU and A&M to either reschedule or buyout.....

I think both schools are screwed from the champ game...yes tOSU will get left out as well if things are done right to a Pac 12 undefeated team vs an SEC champion (1 or no loss)
It would have been the perfect weekend for it. A weekend without a marquee game and only 1 ranked matchup. Would've been prime time on ABC for sure.
I don't think UofL should be screwed over because of other schools' scheduling ineptitude, but what can you do?
Actually it didn't even have to be at Paul Brown. They were offered a game by Jurich at The Horseshoe with no return game for this year.

The call was not returned.
I wouldn't be surprised if Ohio State at least looked into playing Louisville. Florida A&M was not the original team on the schedule. It was supposed to be a home game vs. Vanderbilt, but they ended up backing out. That said, the school wasn't going to go with less than 7 home games and since we were already playing at Cal, this would have had to have been at Ohio State this year (possibly with a return later), which may well have been the hang-up if talks ever did occur.

Too bad. It would have been good.

Being in the ACC will cure some of our scheduling problems. Well, at least, I hope so. 07-coffee3
I mentioned that sunday when I saw FSAM was a late replacement game. I know We would have gladly played Them in the Horseshoe as We have twice before and nearly Won one and real close on the other. Urban and Charlie are good friends. Neither would have lost face with an L. Could have been a very high TV rated game. Too bad it wasn't worked out.
Ohio State had Cal in the 3rd game of the season. Why would they drop that game as it was a return trip from a 2 game signed series?

I hope no Louisville fan is trying to insinuate that OSU would duck fricken Louisville. They have Oklahoma and Virginia Tech coming up on their OOC schedule after all.
Sorry, Louisville is not even on Ohio State's radar. Being Ohio State and playing in the B10 is all they need to go to the NCCG if they win out. I am not saying that the B10 is a great football conference, but the fact that it is the B10 is good enough for the voters/pollsters to elevate them.

No , just a missed opportunity to showcase 2 current top ten schools on a weak day for broadcasting games. Plus it would have helped quite the weak OOC schedule talk about Louisville this season.

You guys are talking about week 3 which would have been Cal week. OSU had that scheduled years in advance to finish an existing contract. Why the heck would they back out of that to schedule fricken Louisville? Makes no sense.

Vanderbilt backed out on OSU forcing the Florida A&M game this past week at the last minute.
No, we are talking about last week. Not the Cal week. When Vandy backed out they were offered a reply" replacement game at the Horseshoe with no return game from Tom Jurich. I am not saying the "ducked" Louisville, but it is BS to say that it was the "only" game they could find when they were offered a replacement for said SEC team.

You are very much correct, I meant to say Week 4! However, I don't think I meant to insinuate that Ohio State was truly ducking us.....It is true that we asked about playing them when Vandy pulled out, for whatever reason they said no thanks.

Exactly. Ragu once again comes to the party with limited facts but plenty of overstuffed attitude. "fricken Louisville" is humorous coming from a young FAU fan.

Um they said week 3. It was their mistake and not mine. Those are the facts.

If 30 is young then I am young so thanks I guess. If you are older, you are probably closer to the grave so props to you on that smack. I have probably forgotten more about college football than you have ever known though.

I don't get self worth from how the teams at my school do. You sat on your butt watching them play just as I did with FAU (assuming you went to Louisville). We both contributed nothing to the outcome so I don't see how my school is relevant when discussing the overall picture. I can comment the same as an Alabama fan.

The bottom line is that Ohio State and Louisville are in a different class as programs. Also turning down an offer to play doesn't mean you are scared to play a team or avoiding them. OSU has scheduled many teams better than a program that has finished top 10 twice in their history.

If you were resopnding to corrected facts, then my apologies there.

That changes nothing however regarding the unneeded attitude. I mentioned your FAU allegiance only because it's ironic to hear a fan of a new program talk down to fans rooting for a school that could likely play toe to toe with OSU if they met this year. Nothing more or less than that.

Also no Louisville fan in the thread threw out that OSU is scared to play the Cards, that line of thought was your creation. The facts were simply stated: UofL offered the game, OSU turned them down, and it would have been a great match-up last weekend. Nothing more, nothing less.

As for your boasting on football knowledge, what can I say? I tend to stay away from unsupported internet claims of how awesome I am. 03-lmfao
As I said before, I can talk down to whoever I want and I can praise whoever I want. You don't get to say what you want if your football team is good and have to be a mute if they suck. That is a stupid attitude. It isn't like you are playing the game. You are sitting down on your butt watching it just as I am.

Glad that Louisville has fans thinking they can do great things but I will wait and see. Right now I see a johnny come lately with 2 top 10's in the history of the school (could be a 3rd this year). They certainly aren't some power that gets me excited to have them in division and having to play them every year. Would much rather have Georgia Tech who is a lot closer and has done it over time. But hopefully they keep it going and build.
... I thought the point was "How cool would it have been"!
