For you more established ACC fans, is this one of those dubious honors? Personally, I won't complain because this is the first year I was able to not miss a game on TV yet. I don't live in SW PA anymore and my cable provider will show Raycom on Saturdays.

Yes it's a dubious honor. You're the most marketable ACC matchup not picked up by ABC/ESPN/ESPN 2/ESPNU/ESPNews.

Pitt hasn't performed well the previous 2 seasons, so I'm not surprised. But there are other high profile programs that end up on their respective conference networks if they were playing weak OOC matchups. I totally get it for the New Mexico game and was a little surprised that Pitt and Duke didn't make it onto one of the ESPN channels. But, it primarily means that Pitt needs to win more consistently before it can expect to get back into the ESPN channels.
This is actually pretty good. So far Pitt's games have been Tier 1 (FSU), Tier 2 (New Mexico), Tier 2 (Duke), Tier 2 (UVa). No Tier 3 yet (ESPN3), which is better than some teams can say

If Pitt beats UVA and VT beats GT, I would think that would be a Tier 1 type game. Two big ifs but it would be pretty fun if both teams won going into the game considering the history between the two schools.
Wait till Pitt fans finds out the Birmingham Bowl has signed up as a title sponsor for the ACC "game of the week".

Oh lord. Please no. 03-puke
Pitt was almost always the top choice for the Big East Game of the Week, too, when they weren't picked up by ESPN, etc.

It pretty much tells you why Pitt was attractive to the B12, B10 and ACC. Pitt gets ratings.
ACC GOTW on Raycom is first pick AFTER ABC/ESPN pick whatever they wish to air. If Raycom doesn't get it, then it goes regional affiliate and/or ESPN3.
I was mistaken. It looks like this game will be televised on the FOX regional networks. Forgot the ACCN sold some games to FOX. Poor me, looks like it won't be on in my neck of the woods as our FSN is showing a different game...

I have no idea why anyone would want to watch Pitt/UVA? I don't know much about the Cavs but I can tell you with certainty after watching three Pitt games, we absolutely stink - particularly on defense. Last Saturday's Duke game was about as bad as I have felt after a win in a very long time. Both teams were just an embarrassment on every level and neither deserved to win that game.

The fact that we're 6.5 point favorites on Saturday tells me all I need to know about the Cavs.

I love Pitt and will be at the game on Saturday because I can't seem to escape this abusive relationship. However, nobody who isn't compelled to do so should subject themselves to that nonsense.
I'm with DVY. We stink. GT will still be running on us next season with our defense. Duke's QB almost couldn't give this game to us last week.

Pitts defe4nse was very good last season. Theymust have lost a lot of starters that killed their depth

Nope, 8 starters are back I believe. They lost their defensive coordinator and the new one sucks. I'm not as negative as other Pitt fans about this team though, I think the offense is really good. They will probably be 6-6 or something.
Get off the ledge. Pitt's defense is not very good, but it's not very bad either. Much like folks don't want to give the Va Tech defense credit for shutting down their offense, folks are hesitant to give the Duke offense credit - but the fact is that the Blue Devils offense is actually pretty good. If Duke could stop people, they would win a lot of games. So just take the win and see how the next game goes. UVa's offense is not nearly as good as Duke's (and the Cavs may well lose to the Devils again this year).

This is a much better Duke team than in previous years. They're favored by 13 over Troy. When was the last time Duke was favored by 13? 20 years a go?
