When this season started, you all told me with a couple breaks Missouri could end up 8-4 or even 9-3. We will achieve that at least. We had Shaw 4th down and forever in OT. Touchdown.... not a defender within 20 feet. When did the coach decide to rush three in the fourth quarter? We have some of the best defensive ends in CFB, and they rushed three. No pressure on Shaw and he picked us to pieces. I would have rather lost 35-7.

That was a heartbreaker, Medic. An SEC Championship is still up for grabs, and crazier things have happened on the national picture.
Our remaining SEC schedule does not favor us though:

Tennessee home
Kentucky road
(bye week)
Ole Miss road
Texas A&M home

Franklin should be back for the Aggies...
Should make it through all of those until you get to the Aggies.

When I saw the replay all I could think about was 'Ace Ventura.'

Medic, If I was the head Coach at Missouri I would make a humorous point out of exorcising the endzones at Mizzou. They need a symbolic gesture to make a farce out of the 5th down play, some other ridiculous happenings, and the hitting of the upright on Saturday night. I say this because the only thing standing in the way of the Tigers and the SEC CCG is the junk in their heads.

You were right in an earlier post to point out that rushing 3 wasn't going to get her done against Shaw. He reads defenses well and picks them apart, against everyone, not just Missouri. Your DC should have rushed him for two reasons, that one, and his lack of mobility playing on an injured knee. The blown coverage on the 4th and 15 in OT was ridiculous given the situation. The two missed field goals were not the kickers fault. I held and spun the ball on kicks way back in the day. The laces facing the kicker is a no no you learn to avoid in JV ball in High School. When the ball is struck the laces prevent the force of the kick from being distributed equally and results in shanked kicks. But to be honest the real boneheaded problem on that final drive was getting away from the plays that South Carolina hadn't been able to stop before they actually stopped one. If Mizzou had kept running to the left (the wide side of the field) their speed would have continued to be their advantage. It was good enough to get them to the 8 with a first and goal and then they ran two plays that had not worked all night.

Missouri is better than everyone remaining on their schedule. What happened on Saturday is ancient history now. If they just continue to play their game, Franklin or no Franklin, they will win. If they start believing in the jinx they won't. It's as simple as that. The biggest obstacle to any team becoming a championship team is their own belief that they deserve the status. Vanderbilt's coach is overcoming that in Nashville. Pinkel has to do that at Mizzou.

Wow what a game Saturday though.

You know Gamecock, that loss kept me up all night and ruined Sunday for the most part. I haven't felt that bad since the Patriots stole our playbook, and the Superbowl from the Rams. Shaw saved the day and I am pretty sure it would have been less painful to sit it out. He is awesome. What got me over it somewhat is the fact that I probably was not any more bitter than the South Carolina fans must have been the week earlier. Gotta put the game behind you and Carolina did a good job of it. Blowing a lead like that is what made it so bad...04-cheers

Hey, you guys still control your own destiny. It's gonna be a crazy finish.

Wish I could wish you luck the rest of the way, but I want to get back to Atlanta more than anything.

I think you can. I just think that will be the biggest hurdle to come.

The Aggies are also very beatable; all you have to do is take your time and score on them every time you have the ball. Auburn showed it isn't too hard because the poor Aggies defense is rather bad.

Yeah, Arkansas State had a better defense. But nobody we've played has a better offense than A&M.

That must be really frustrating for them. The offense is national championship calibre, with Manziel, without a doubt. The defense on the other hand wouldn't even get you bowl eligible.

That's tough because Manziel is a rare commodity.

His talent is his vulnerability though. He's one goofy run down the field from a career ending injury. Look at Vick and RGIII. He won't see five years in the NFL without a serious injury. When they are forced to change their style of play they are usually finished.
You've got to admit Medic that this is a great year for Missouri no matter what happens from here. Realistically I see two more wins and a big question mark for the remaining games. Protect the ball and you beat Kentucky. Ole Miss doesn't have a great defense. I think you outscore them like Auburn and others have done. The question mark is whether the Tigers can outscore the Aggies. So worst case scenario you need South Carolina to lose once more in conference to be able to claim a spot in Atlanta. Best case scenario is that you control your own destiny. Either way you go to a great bowl this year. I'd love to see you guys in Atlanta. Go get it. BTW, I've got nothing against the Gamecocks or Steve. I hope they win out as well.

I will be crazy happy if we end up 10-2. Who would have ever thought this soon. SEC teams beat up an injured Mizzou team last year, and we have beat up a few this year. Fair play I guess.
With the Aggie defense playing this bad tonight, and with Franklin being ready to play in two weeks, the Mizzou - Aggie score might very well be 100-97.
They looked good tonight Medic. 1 to go.
(11-24-2013 12:46 AM)JRsec Wrote: [ -> ]They looked good tonight Medic. 1 to go.

They sure did. 03-banghead

Missouri owned the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball most of the night and their secondary played extremely well. After the Tigers took the opening kickoff and preceded to ram the ball down the Rebels' throats, I thought it might end up in a really ugly score. Even though Ole Miss lost, I had to feel like the Rebels were fortunate to be only two scores down at the end. If they had been able to get touchdowns on the two possessions that the Rebels had first-and-goal, they might have stolen a win. But Missouri was definately the better team and deserved to win.

Ole Miss now has four losses -- Alabama, Auburn, Texas A&M and Missouri. That's brutal.

Congrats on the win MEDIC. 04-cheers

Thanks guys. I think I heard Musberger say ABC was going to be in Columbia for the game next Saturday night. What a stage. Might be Manzeil's last regular season game and SEC East on the line...Wow.
Nervous for this game. Should be starting the 4th quarter as the South Carolina/Clemson game is wrapping up.

Saturday is either gonna be epic or a letdown.
