So is it just me, or does TO play better when someone else starts? Brogan Woodslide didn't do too bad... TO came in and threw the ball better than I've seen in a long time. Same deal when he came in for Dantin. He isn't lights out when he starts, ever, but kills it when he comes in to take care of $#!t.

Almost seems like he needs to feel the heat. And if you don't get the Brogan reference, follow @notmattcampbell on twitter.... Good times

I don't know if that is it because he came in hot against EWU too and the Rockets were scoring on drives of like 2 minutes and another one was like 58 seconds. Then he got hurt and the coaches sent out Woodside and the game totally slowed down. Same as today...the game was totally slow until TO came in. I personally think it had to do with the SEC defenses and he was rattled playing against them but I think he feels more confident and composed playing against the MAC and FCS.

Whatever it was, I'm much more confident in our O than I was a couple of weeks ago. Bring it, MAC!
Personally, I think it is several things that snowballed and made it tough on TO to begin the season. The Florida defense was not fun to play against and Mizzou was a stiff test as well. While we played decent enough D to be in these games, the O surprisingly disappointed us. He made some poor decisions and threw a ton of balls high. It wasn't all TO's fault though, they were just struggling against competition that was better than we typically see or can emulate in practice. Many balls were dropped and we failed to execute on almost all of our 3rd down opportunities. TO just didn't have a chance to get a rhythm going. It isn't easy to find a rhythm like it is against lesser competition when the O line gives you 1 or 2 more seconds to go through the progressions.

Mostly, I think he just needed to settle down a notch and play some lessor competition to get things going again. It's too bad we couldn't play some lesser competition before facing FL and Mizzou. Sitting out with an injury, watching Brogan, and getting some time to reflect may have helped as well. I was telling my wife during the game that the injury may have caused him to chill a bit and this wasn't necessarily a bad thing. I dislocated my kneecap before and when you are first back, you just don't trust it. This makes your play more cerebral than physical. You slow down and do what you can do. For TO, perhaps this will was a blessing in disguise.

Break his other knee!
In the post-game interview coach said that it was their plan to give Logan two series, then send TO in. Sounds familiar doesn't it? Don't know if we have a "controversy" yet, but I'm glad they're getting Logan some good experience.
Logan was three for six on his passes with one thrown too high for Reedy and two drops on very catchable throws.
Looks to me we have a very capable back-up for TO. When Woodside was in against CMU, the offense really didn't look like it missed a beat. He seems to have a winning mentality.

LOL eastisbest, no I think we are good. TO is hitting his stride and we have a capable backup getting some great experience. We owe Woodside lots of praise for getting us out of a difficult situation and giving us something better than we had before it started. Hats off to the coaches as well.
We've already broken Logan's redshirt, right? I'd keep playing him a few series each game. It will make next year interesting with the Alabama transfer, Logan and whoever else is in the stable.

That whoever else might just be the best of the bunch.

I don't think he has, Woodside came in for an injury. Players can play a certain amount of time before losing their red-shirt especially early in the year.

I believe that the "certain amount of time" only applies if applying for a medical/hardship redshirt.

If a player enters a game, he is no longer eligible for a voluntary redshirt for that season. That's how the rules sound to me, anyhow.
I have a hard time getting excited by a quarterback controversy this season, when next year we could have controversy 3.0. Woodside, Julian & Ely. Three quarterback rotation anyone? Just think about the buzz on the forum then...
Seriously though, I don't think they ever intended to redshirt Woodside this year, but redshirting Julian makes sense. That way next season we should have a solid quarterback in the freshman, sophomore and junior classes.
