Nope. Political bias.
Everyone should subscribe to their local newspaper. Even paranoid schizophrenics that consider a steady southern conservative publication like the Commercial Appeal to be a left leaning rag.
Everyone should be free to choose whether they want to subscribe. Im not interested in paying for info that I usually already know before the appeal even prints it.
02-13-banana It is the only way for me to keep up with what is happening back in my hometown. I read the headlines to have some idea of what is going on and I always look at the pictures in memories of bygone days where I see many friends old pictures and some of my own family pictures. Recent ones of my sister winning the Miss Fire Prevention and Miss City Beautiful contest long ago that I showed to my 99 year old mother and it brought back memories and tears for her.

I tell you what you cheap a$$, PM me your email address and home address and I will find a way to add you to my digital subscription, just let me see what I have to do. NO charge to you. None, notta, zero, free. Then you will find something else to whine about. I will also donate my slightly used toilet paper to your household. I know you hate paying $6 for 12 rolls of TP. Being frugal is one thing, just being a total cheap a$$ is another.

I haven't noticed any politically motivated articles in the CA sports section. Where do you find these articles? I must be missing them.
There will never be a "sports only" package. There will never be a "pandas only" price at the zoo, either.

PandaCam maybe. It would be cool to logon and watch pandas sleep.

03-lmfao True.
02-13-banana02-13-banana Guess what ??? All of this discussion caused me to check into subscription prices and I think I read it correctly when it said two months for the price of one month at $13.99 so I subscribed. After two months the price will go to the normal pricing.

LOL

Right on.
I will probably never purchase it and it has nothing to do with $14. The CA and some other newspapers have made their choice that advertising money and clicks is not enough. Other newspapers had have made the choice that is sufficient. Those are the websites I visit. You are free to make you choice. If I'm advertising with the CA, I would not like them limiting their readership and my potential customers.
I pay the $14 ... got it free for years ... actually subscribbed and had it mailed (2-3 days late) when I left town many moons ago.
I have a KINDLE FIRE ... and at one time a digital sub was $7. Few pics ... mostly print ... perfect for an out of towner. It's getting where you can't read any newspaper without a sub. I think it would be ... handy to be able to read a cetain # of articles from papers ... nationwide ... for one monthly fee. That way if the news is in LA ... you read the Times ... Houston ... it's the Chronicle ...

... some day I guess ... 03-idea
the CA should be supported because they have always been a friend to the University and particularly athletics department. Everyone here should buy a couple of subscriptions. Good thread, we need one like this every week.
