some very interesting quotes in this article.

Quote:He specifically cited the Sun Belt and Mid-American conferences as possibilities, but added that EKU has had no discussions with either league.

Quote:Sandy said an FBS move would likely have to be within the next two years. If the Colonels were to announce a move this year, with the two-year transition period the earliest they could be a bowl-eligible FBS member would be 2016.

And finally the most telling quote in the article is the last line...

Quote:Sandy said one potential added benefit of moving to the FBS is that it would allow EKU and WKU to renew their annual series. The teams haven’t played since 2008.

“FBS football is changing,” Sandy said. “The window of opportunity is now.”
WKU has no reason to go back to playing EKU. They are not financially ready to be FBS. Their students would rather go 30 miles to a UK game. All of the hate between the two as dried up. We have no interest in re associating with that dumpster fire.

I remember lots of people saying the same thing about Georgia Southern in the last 18 months.
The Colonels, I believe that's their name, do have one of the few Aztec temple type stadiums in college football. Guess it would be easy to pray to the footballs Gods. (No disrespect to religions.) Just hope they don't do human sacrifice. Saw where 20,000 were sacrificed once at the 12 story Aztec temple in Mexico City on the Military Channel. WKU fans do not like the idea too well. Plus they have not had good attendance as of recently I believe.

It is the Colonels evidently.
Missouri State going to end up behind the slammed door.
EKU used to be a power in 1AA football if I remember correctly.
As mentioned before on several occasions, I find it hard to believe they could be successful since they are 20 miles from the University of Kentucky. We all have fans in our own towns that are fans of the "flagship" school first but there are many in our towns that are fans of the local school first. I lived in Richmond for awhile and believe me, because of their proximity, the locals are UK fans first. EKU and UK are in many ways analogous to Eastern Michigan and the University of Michigan and we all know what a disaster EMU is when it comes to attendance and usually performance. EKU's niche is FCS.
It maybe why they are UK fans is because of FCS.
Kentucky football is so bad right now that I could see EKU stealing some fans if they started winning games.

That being said...I'm not really interested in EKU for the SBC.

We accepted Georgia State and they are only blocks away from Georgia Tech.

You might not like Liberty for a myriad of reasons, but potential and the ability to raise money aren't among them.

EKU could be worse than GaSt if that's possible......
