Usually the home opener is one of the biggest crowds of the season. With two loses, even to SEC teams, will the fans come out?
Lol woah good timing
With the ease of purchasing tickets, the number of season tickets that have been sold, and the students normally coming out strong for the first game no matter the opponent, I don't think the 0-2 start will impact Saturday's game or the next home game (which will be homecoming). I'm not sure what the crowd will be like for Navy. Regardless of record, the crowd will probably be bad for the final two home games, played during weekday nights in November.
I don't think it will hurt it too much. Obviously it won't help, but pretty much everyone knows we played 2 SEC teams.
I don't think it will necessarily hurt attendance for the opener; however, I do feel that the buzz that would have come from one or two SEC wins coming into the game I believe we would have a better turn out than we will.
I think I understand what people are trying to say, but "hurt" is a relative term.

Last year UT opened at home to a crowd of a bit over 28,000 against BG after having gone 1-1 on the road out west.

The year before that UT opened the season at home hosting New Hampshire before a crowd of a bit over 20,000.

I suspect that the turnout Saturday will be somewhere between those two numbers. Yet those numbers would have undoubtedly been significantly higher had UT somehow managed to come home 2-0 against the SEC. In 2000 after the dominating win at Penn State that few expected, UT returned home having captured everyone's imagination and the next week played Weber State before a crowd of over 32,000 fans.

So if you saying "hurt" relative to other "normal" opening home attendances, the two loses probably did not scare away too many normally faithful fans. However, if you are saying "hurt" relative to coming home 2-0, to a boat load of band wagon curiosity and an over capacity Glass Bowl crowd then that is an entirely different story.
This is a better Rocket squad than the one that won the MACC in 2004, got buried by Minnesota(7-5)63-21 and Kansas(4-7)63-12 in the first two games. If the Rockets tighten everything up, they will roll through the rest of the schedule. Fans will be stupid not to be a part of it. 05-mafia

Those two games had to of been some of the most embarrassing moments in UT Rocket football history. How in the hell that team won a MACC is beyond even my imagination.
Considering the 2 opponents I don't believe it will have much effect. With good weather there's usually a big turnout for the home opener anyway. I think there will be a lot of excitement--if not about the game, at least at the game as the buzz will spread pretty quickly that the opponent is no slouch.
Going up against the Ohio state game at 7pm certainly won't help.

I noticed that too this week, I thought UT normally tried to avoid the same time slot. Why not have this game in the afternoon?

Alabama game will end around 7.

Going up against Notre dame at 8 as well.
0-2 not so much. 0-3...would not be good.
So, since the Buckeyes game is at 7, what's the over/under on how many OSU tailgates will be set up in Lot 10 in the afternoon? 03-banghead

I'll bring matches and a sofa (we want them to feel at home).

Don't know much about your 04 squad, except winning a MAC title is a tough task. I disagree with they will roll though, almost completely.

The Defense has looked so-so against more enemic SEC offenses, which is improvement. They will still struggle against Ball and NIU.

This Rocket sqaud will go as far as Owens takes them, and he is so inconsistent. I see 3 possible losses for the Rockets, that's far from rolling the MAC. Your optimism is good for your team, but hardly warranted.

If this talent is as good as all the recruiting sites and you all say, they should have won a MAC title over the last 3 years, win one this year, and should be 1-1. Hope you guys have a big crowd though.
