You must not have heard about all the crazy new rules they implemented. It may look nice but there's no way I would live there.
Yeap, very nice, drive by it daily. Lots of parties as well since Rockingham County has no noise codes. Needless to say, some of the residents directly across from the housing are not thrilled.
Oh and the photos, seriously doubt they are of Harrisonburg.
One of my friends little sister lives in Aspen Heights. The place went from being an off-campus Utopia, to a police state over night. The first week, the pool was full, there were tons of parties, and things were crazy from what I understand. Now they have new rules limiting the guests you can have on premise, they must have arm bands, and the buses wont run there late at night on weekends. The Breeze did a story here: http://www.breezejmu.org/news/article_3c...f6878.html

The new rules seem a bit excessive but when you abuse the freedoms of having a modern day resort as a housing complex, you are going lose certain privileges. I feel bad for the people that signed leases there because they are not happy. I feel even worse for Aspen Heights because I doubt anyone will want to live there next year with the new strict rules.
Can understand though, wouldn't want a third riot to happen.
Well that is a lot better than my apartment at hunters ridge back in the day.
These kids are so lucky. I lived in Stone Gate and that was meh, I await the day when they bulldoze it.
there was so much social media butthurt after they started enforcing rules that they never would have had to make if they didn't abuse the freedom they had out there. the entitlement train was rolling hard.

I'll bet the new apartment complexes have walk-in closets bigger than my bedroom was for two years in one of the five bedroom apartments. At least senior year I upgraded to one of the two bedroom apartments and doubled my living space.

Olde Mill was the place to be when it was brand new, we christened that complex well. I ride by them now and am not impressed.
I hung out with a few of my college friends this past weekend. They lived in the Sunchase apartments that (used to be) separated from the others. In 2005, these were considered to be pretty nice apartments.

Upon moving out, they strategically placed a case of keystone lights on the crossbeams inside the walls of the two hallway bathrooms (during a party, they had decided to punch holes through the walls so people in the bathrooms could talk to each other). Those beers are likely still there as they patched the holes when they moved out.

We so badly want to go to this apartment (820G) after a game one day and see if we can recover these "aged" beers.
I have been out of JMU for 8 years, and it blows my mind how expensive that place is to live!

It's college! Not a damn resort! I lived in Ghetto Ridge 1 yr.....my Dad still thanks me for saving him money by living in that place. My final 2 years were in the fraternity house, at 1/2 the price of Ghetto Ridge.
I lived at Ghetto Ridge for a year as well, but then moved into Southview (it was brand new then) - - I thought I was living in high cotton

We moved over to Olde Mill from U Place when they first opened, thought both of those were pretty nice actually. Spent my last year in one of the Hunters ridge "townhouses" with one other roommate. He had the upstairs, I had the downstairs. Thought I was living in a Palace having my own 2 bedroom and mini-kitchen all to myself.

Course this was after years of spending my summers in 2 bedroom, 1 bath apartments with as many as 8 of us in there...04-cheers

I went from a Hunters Ridge apartment to a Hunters Ridge Townhouse to Ashby Crossing. Really couldn't complain about any of them at the time. Seems like things have gone waaaay downhill since then. And much nicer places have sprouted up as well.
I ived in Madison Manor from 1996-1998. My roommate and I paid $250/month each.
i rented from Craig Smith for 250/mo (1000/4 pple). Best landlord in harrisonburg and it's not even close. The years in that house... ahh man. i wanna sell my house and go back to renting from him.

Yeah, I rented from him on South Street. He was a great guy. I have fond memories of that place, even if it didn't have A/C and one roommate stuck me with $300 in unpaid phone bills to Indonesia.
I used to live in Old Mill (now "The Mill," apparently?). At the time, they were the best apartments in Harrisonburg. I heard they went ghetto. It's been a long time since I was a student.
