With the embarrassing losses by ODU, Appalachian and UMass, I wonder if some University Presidents and AD's might be scratching their heads about the FBS glitter. JMU's loss to basement dweller Akron wasn't very inspiring to your fan base.
Ok!
I think the way we played early on against Akron and the way other FCS teams around our level are doing against FBS teams shows that the growing pains might not be so bad after all if and when we make the jump and makes me want to move up more than before. Is that just me?
I don't think presidents and ADs give 2 craps about this as long as they garner interest, sell tickets, pack the house, and make $. I know I was looking forward to the Akron game more than any other game this season (with the exception of maybe Richmond). I'm tired of blowing out the Central Missouri State A&M Community Colleges of the world.
11 FCS wins over FBS in 2 weeks. Countless other close losses by JMU, Liberty, W&M, Villanova, UR, UNH, etc.
The anti-fbs argument is weak. Sorry.
Pretty sure the OP is Masonfan or some other troll. Seen him around elsewhere trying to stir things up, all under the cover of being a JMU "fan".

Prove me wrong.

He just tried to make a thread on ODUbbs talking about FBS newbies and wannabees. It was quickly removed.

Give us 20+ more scholarships and we're not losing to Akron or the majority of the Sun Belt, CUSA, or MAC.

When I look at the facilities, talent, and fan bases of most programs in those conferences, and realize JMU is already doing more with less, JMU would be foolish to not pursue FBS and see what kind of success when we are finally on a level playing field.
Dolley is correct. First, I don't think we played as well as we could. We were up 13-0. Second, give us 18 more scholarship players and we blow that team off the field. We have guys just getting some experience right now.

No. It's not just you.

Makes sense. Mason fans have gotta be bored out of their minds this time of year.

Look at our body of work against FBS takent over the last 6 years. Granted, the games against Duke, UNC and WVU were not as competitive as the JMU Nation had hoped they would be but we learned many valuable lessons. The other 3 games involved an OT loss at Maryland, a close loss at Akron and a win at VT. We showed that we truly belong at the FBS level if that's where our BOV decides to take us.
Simply trolling. No rational fan would look at a near win to an FBS school on the road (that really should have been a win) as a bad sign. And given that the competitiveness between FCS and FBS has never been more equal, it seems these are some CAA fans who are shaking in their boots that one of the best CAA schools over the last decade is also jumping ship from the sinking CAA. Sorry your schools are stuck in limbo boys and girls, but unlike your schools, jmu is attractive and we will find better partners to dance with COGS02-13-banana

Yeah we should rethink our hopes and dreams to play at a higher level because we lost by two to a team who was supposed to beat us by three. I'm sure our board of visitors is ready to change their vote because App State had a bad weekend 01-wingedeagle
Look, we dominated Akron. It was merely a few bad plays defensively and some stupid penalties a nd turnovers that even made this game close. Consider the following stats:

The Dukes possessed the ball for 38:20 and ran 94 plays for 498 yards, including two fourth-down conversions in three attempts. The Zips held the ball for just 21:40 and ran 57 plays for 356 yards.

Birdsong recorded his first 300-yard passing game as he notched 310 yards on 29-of-42 completions, including three touchdown passes. Scott rushed for 107 yards with one touchdown and caught six passes for 18 yards and a touchdown.

And, someone has the kahunas to question whether we belong?

We can't get there fast enough!

This makes no sense Yeager.

What would be the point of "moving up" if these FCS schools like UMass, App, and ODU were already just as good as the FBS teams they faced and already beating them. The fact they got "embrassed", as you put it, only proves that they have moved up to bigger and better things and are adjusting to the bigger stage and competition. Yes there were some FCS upsets, but history shows that on average only around 11% of FCS teams beat FBS teams. Somebody here on this board posted the link.

Thanks for showing that FBS is bigger and better and ODU, UMass, and App have embraced the challenge. The CAA while quite possibly the best of FCS still is below the worst of FBS.
Good god some of these topics are ridiculous. ODU getting blown out doesn't prove a damn thing about their decision. When they have had an opportunity to recruit for a few years I promise you they won't be getting blasted very often.

Our stats against Akron don't prove we belong in FBS either. The size of our stadium, size of our student body, attendance, and potential for so much more proves we belong in FBS. When we make the move and have 3-4 years of recruiting to catch up to our new peers we won't be getting our ass handed to us very often at that level anyway.

I'm guessing everyone has a little rough transition period. It's to be expected.
hehehe "Yeager"
That would be hilarious if he was posting on message boards to try to save the conference that keeps him employed.

Actually, looks like this is a tick fan if you read the Spiders board.

Thanks for the heads up, but God, no! I'm more allergic to ticks than I am to ebirts! Bad, naaasty colors, each of them.

I can hardly stomach the griffindorfs board for a glance, much less that heinous black and red "web" for more than a scance. I'll take your word for it and thanks for the headsup.

In the end, JMU fan? errr, no. Troll as I suspected? errr, yea. of course. Haha, maybe it's ole wasshisname? Frontroyalspideroo? I kinda heart that guy. 03-drunk
