From the director of baseball operations at UAB

@bendrust28: Well, @SUBWAY on the CAMPUS of UAB is off my list again. Selling other schools cups on our campus. Ridiculous and disrespectful. (Cont)

@bendrust28: This is the second yr in a row @SUBWAY has done this. I gave them a second chance but HUGE fail. For those of you that don't know, (cont)

@bendrust28: This is the campus of UAB! We wear green and gold not other colors! I will not step foot back n there again. @UABathletics #GOBLAZERS

By the way, it's nice to see that kind of school passion from a staff member
this is actually the third year in a row, but who's counting. why complain when half the students going in there are wearing an alabama or auburn shirt anyway?

I have found myself on campus more in the last three weeks than in the last 10 years, and of school colors I see, about 95% is UAB and 5% other.
Where is this Subway located?

In my experience this year backs up your statement.

Snoozy's. Given that I've seen those cups in other Subways off-campus, probably the Subway on 20th and University has these too.
A staff member has a DUTY to speak up for UAB. We could quibble over the definition of "on campus," I suppose, but good for him.
Kudos to him. He's right. Wish more were like him.

I will also agree with the others here in saying that I have seen less and less stuff from other schools on UAB campus. School spirit really seems to be growing.
I saw some of those cups at the Subway in Pinson.

Is this an SEC promotion deal or is it another promotion?

What are they doing in towns & states outside of the SEC?
I've seen those cups in there before as well and haven't been in since. The manager told me it was a corporate decision and there was nothing they could do.

Thats BS if I was the manager those cups would still be in the box and transfered to another location. I would tell corporate that I'm on the campus of UAB and no one wants them. In every restaurant corporation, customer service is the most important thing. I can't make money if my customers are not happy with what the product we sell is in. I would tell them to either offer UAB cups at this location or put in small print of there marketing material, "cups sold only in participating locations."
Having worked in the industry, district and regional managers aren't known for listening to their store managers if they've already made a decision in their minds. Not eating there will just screw that one manager and change nothing. Get the number to whoever is in control of that Subway and raise holy hell a few times and those cups will be gone tomorrow.
Good God, who the hell cares? I go to Subway to eat. Hell, now I'm craving Subway after reading this thread. Do you guys really let stuff like this decide where you eat?
One way to determine if it is important is to substitute things around.

Let's suppose that they were selling UAB cups on the campus of Alabama or Auburn.

How important would it be to them?

There's your answer.

Sell the cups of the school upon whose campus you sit.

Not rocket surgery.
Jimmy Johns is superior.
But on Southside, when I wanted a sandwich, I went to Fat Sams. Is he still there?

Yes.

Thankfully, joyously, blessedly yes.
To paraphase an old adage - "if my cups are offensive to you, tell me as you walk out to patronize someone else". Most managers are "quick studies" when something costs them customers.

Yes, Fat Sams is still there. There's a Jimmy Johns at 5 Points now, too.
