very very disappointed in dri not playing yesterday. his injury was not that severe.

he let his team down. they needed him. his coach needed him. he just stood there on the sideline......

his handlers told him not to play.. and he listened.
Many here agree, but I believe it's all speculation on our part.

I also find it hard to believe that Archer would go against the advice of the training staff and coaching staff and not play if he was capable. I cannot believe he would instead listen to "his advisors", Very hard to believe. If that is the case he better be getting some different advisors because he needs to be on the field to get drafted
I would hope that Dri is not sitting with a minor injury and I want to give him the benefit of the doubt. It is just really hard watching him on the sidelines against BGSU and in the godaddy bowl knowing those would have been different games with him out there. With all the build up of the Heisman campaign I was really hoping for a monster season. With the next two games likely not to be close, it seems like we won't see Dri out there for awhile.
I still don't see it. It doesn't make sense unless he owes hit life to the mafia. Why would someone tell him not to play? Its clearly not someone that cares about his draft status, so I doubt a pro agent. This is hurting his Heisman, so its not someone associated with the Heisman. I know KSU is not telling him to stay on the sidelines against conference games.

Alpha, the following is pure speculation. Someone might tell Dri not to play IF he is not 100%, because he doesn't want to have a bad outing that damages his overall stats. In other words, better for his draft status to have no outing than a bad one because he is gimpy. It's managing status like YPC, YAR, and Punt/Kickoff return yardage. In theory, a low quality "advisor" could think like this. ( Have I put in enough speculation disclaimers yet?04-jawdrop)

IF that's true, or IF that's what Dri thinks, it's very shortsighted for many reasons, some of which you've pointed out. Plus, I can't imagine that a HC with the nickname of "ICE" from him playing days finds it at all amuzing.
is a *****.
$$$ and NFL Agents 04-deal

03-puke
Pure speculation, but I'm guessing somebody told him to rest up and get as close to 100% to showcase himself against LSU and Penn State. Which are obviously just two games to bring the Athletic Department $$$$ and have no bearing on our MAC season. That BG game is where we needed him, he was the difference last year and may have been again.
With Dri - when we were looking at how he'd go in the draft, the biggest question was how durable he'd be in the NFL, being a smaller player, and the NFL so much bigger. He had to come back this year and to be the Heisman candidate, he had to dominate every game, and never miss a snap, just to prove that he can handle the NFL. I think his chance is gone already. He lost any spot in the NFL draft already
I would be surprised if he plays at LSU or PSU. They hit too hard.
I don't doubt for one minute these were the two games, especially LSU, that he's had circled on his schedule for a long time. He'll be dressed IMO. With non-BCS NFL prospects the experts always want to know how they fared against top competition. So I believe he selfishly looked at these games as his biggest of he season when in reality they mean the least. Again, just my humble opinion, so I hope whatever it is gets put aside and the team and player finishes strong and we're all celebrating another successful season in a couple months.
Lot's of accusastions but I won't discount the value Dri has at this level. KSU is simply a different team when he's around so hopefully for our (the fans) sake he can get whatever is the issue behind him and join the others as quick as possible.

I personally don't see him having any impact at the next level as the speed difference between Mac defenses and NFL is so vastly different and as he has shown he's not the most durable football player with his small frame. If anything he's a special team's returner but I'm not expecting much and I've always thought the Heisman talk was a little silly.

He's a true game breaker though for this conference so just enjoy whatever time remains while he wears the blue and gold

Ok, which one of you here is Elton?
All of the rumors and speculation would not occur if information were more readily available.

I disagree. If he puts up a 40 time close to what we've heard he can do then some team will draft him. I think the durability will be a factor when teams are trying to decide what kind of player he will be at the next level (ie. what round to take him). Will he be a guy that you can try to get 15-20 touches a game as a pass catching back in a true platoon a la Darren Sproles or will he be return man and a gadget player that gets 2 or 3 offensive plays a game trying to break one. Somewhere in between?
Here is hoping he comes back against LSU and they decide to to test his ankle by kicking to him to start the game.

By the way how much would Dri make if he played for Les Miles?
Elton interviewing Haynes isn't very telling. What is Coach going to do? Throw Dri under the bus? The facts are the facts. He hasn't played and it's not our medical staff keeping him off the field.
The season is young, and if Dri returns healthy with a good year, last Saturday's game will be a mere bump in the road.

I thought EA made some good points in his column. And, he isn't claiming to be a spokesperson for KSU, so he deserves a pass (pun intended) on some inconsistency from what we've heard. Don't spend 6 months telling fans about all the ways we're going to get the ball in Dri's hands ( kick offs, punts, receiver and wildcat) then spin that we're not going to use him that much, anyway. Or, that we have a Heisman candidate who can't play at 80%. Wonder what Cribbs or Edelman would say about that?

All that being said, we may have very well lost to BG last week with Dri playing, just lost by a closer margin. I think that the bitter pill is that he didn't even try.
