I played in that game as a sophomore and we lost 17-13 when late in the 4th quarter we decided to throw the ball and Jay was sacked fumbled and a DT picked it up and took it to the house.

That FCS team won a 16 team tournament to become national champions. If memory serves me that was Jay Mcdongh's 1st start as a soph. We went on to win 7 games and we were totally embarrassed by that loss.

Can tell this is really bugging you
shouldn't of hired this guy, why didnt he have the balls to go for it when it was 4th and 5 and 4th and short another time? were suppose to be afraid of the nicholls defense???????
Very obvious it still stings for Kimbo as he has mentioned it several times. I vividly remember that game too. A great packed house in Waldo, only to see a loss in the final minute(s) of the game.

Kimbo would know a lot better than me, but I think Molde was a very unhappy coach afterward Remember his quote, "They picked our pocket".
I can still see that play in my mind like it was yesterday. It is one of only two regrets I had as a player at WMU the other was not winning a ring. We were always the bridesmaid. We had a very good defense that year and all of YSU's points came off turnovers.
I loved those early 90's teams. Tuffo, Powell, McDonough, Vackaro...

Still the best uniforms (Gold jerseys, Brown pants with gold piping) ever.

WTF no Henley? I came in with the last 3 and roomed with jay and jimmy. Of those 4 guys I played in more quarters than any of them. I had the longest streak of consecutive quarters played at 129 until I got hurt. I was the only player on the team to never miss a quarter. I am just kidding by the way. I was a grinder, not the kind of guy that belongs in a list of those guys. Plus the pants were all brown. We called them doo doo brown paints.
Yeah and Henley was money! Army game stands out still!
1996, Molde's last season, Eastern Illinois - L, 20-28.
