The truth hurts. Depressing.
Thought it was a good, fair article.

"Those dreadful results didn’t help UAB when it came before the board in 2008 with plans for its 30,000-seat stadium. Never mind Jimmy Filler, a booster, had helped marshal support from 27 individuals or corporations to lease suits at $100,000 a pop annually over five years."

“The infrastructure that really needs to be built around football is something we’re needing to do,” Mackin said Thursday. “Watson certainly built the program up to a competitive level and, when he left in ’06, it really struggled.”

Watson sucked and he wasn't a good hire. Sad thing is his era is the golden age of UAB football. That's where a lot of the best wins and memories lie for UAB fans.

The lack of progress summarized in this article is why I say anybody that still follows UAB football is a good fan, no matter how much b******* and whining. It takes a special blend of loyalty and insanity to be a Blazer fan.
Matt Harris should be invited to speak at some future UAB function since he has touched on some of our points vis a vis the system BOT. Any one of the BOT's actions might be dismissed on grounds of financial conservatism, but taken as an entire "body of work" since "Black Friday" they add up to a premeditated offensive against the UAB football program over many years.
