All of us will miss really him come Midnight Madness and when the season starts. At least with today's phones with video it helps keeping in touch much easier and seem less distant.

I'm old and I still don't understand how I can load a FREE app on my phone and then talk to d.j. 6,000 miles away in Athens, Greece for FREE and it sounds like he's right next door. weird.
Just one rung in the ladder....

I have never used facetime or whatever its called....but I need to.
Facetime is great, and bundled with Mac OS Lion and Mountain Lion. Also, on iPhone "What's App" and "Viber" are free apps, and work great from overseas to Stateside and vice versa.

d.j. originally told me to upload whatsapp but then decided to go with the Viber...that's what I used to talk to him.
Is DJ anywhere near all the rioting going on in Greece? Things are getting crazy over there, so I don't really know if it's safe for Americans.

Well it finally happened- I have been visiting for six days in wonderful Athens and then last night walked smack dab right into a protest demonstration at Syntagma Square in front of the Parliament building. I took several photos of this protest and hope to post them along with several others taken in and about Athens on my own personal website when I return to the U.S. in another week. I will also give a full report on my visit.

It was a peaceful protest and although I need a cane to walk about I never felt threatened or in danger. The only thing I was disturbed about is that trafic and buses were brought to a halt , streets were blocked, and I had to wait fully three hours until 10PM after the demo ended for my number #1 bus to arrive at its usual bus stop at the Parliament bus stop.

All in all, life in and about Athens is about as normal as any other city and full of wonderful people who are experiencing 27 percent unemployment and everything that goes with it, including the going out of business of hundreds of small shops which unfortunately has led to many tourists posting some truly unfair hurtful postings here on the forum.

More to come in a week.
Good to hear and glad he's okay. Thanks for the update.

Why not? Raj skypes his parents in India all the time.
Missj, you're not old... and you're getting to be very experienced. Just look how you've provided us with the good news! I can't do it and glad you do. Tell DJ he's got the right connection.

Thanks for it, and be sure and tell DJ he is sorely missed.

"Sky On" DJ ! ! 07-coffee3

If you pay a cell bill then it isn't free. You are using your data plan unless your phone was hooked into wifi. In that case you were using your Internet, which I assume you also pay for.
