Mitch and I found our seats directly behind UAB bench and beside Troy student section. After a very rowdy introduction Pike County's finest young minds are no longer as loud as Mitch and I :-)
Video would be welcomed :)

+1
No video, but this is nice.

Note the security guard assigned to be between us and the student section. We also had our own police officer assigned to us, actually now that I think of it, we interacted with multiple officers...not just the one they put near us.

We absolutely had them on the ropes, completely out-smacked...but then the 4th quarter happened and it obviously didn't end well.
Some of their fans were pretty nasty that's for sure. We were not treated kindly upon leaving the stadium. One drunk wanted to test us with his beer goggles on. If you read their message board we were the bad fans....LOL
I hope they pay the stadium announcer well because he is obnoxious as hell.

I haven't heard high school announcers than were more obnoxious than he was.

Seeing that 231 North sign was welcomed.
In the 2nd quarter, we started golf clapping every time we scored (as to show respect and not be obnoxious in a semi-joking manner), it was hilarious. None of the student section understood...they were confused.

Also, the low intelligence level of that student section last night, either from being a Troy student, or the alcohol, or the combination of both, was utterly surprising. Some of their smack talk was the stupidest stuff I had ever heard. Honestly.

Midway through the game, some of the smarter in the student section started telling their own students to shut up and think before they talked.

It's a new thing for them to see opposing teams fans close enough to them to even attempt smack talk, so they have no experience.

Just say "bless your heart" and move on.

They spent most of the night hurling the most racist and offensive remarks I've heard from a fanbase (except for South Carolina) to our bench.
Yea, South Carolina was nasty too.
My sister was sitting with her husband in the Troy student section in the upper level. She said it pretty much cleared out at halftime. She came down to sit with me later in the game, but 105 was too crowded! That was awesome. We really showed this team we can show up and be heard, and I hope that continues. It was a great feeling. My sister said from where they were, we were noticeably louder and more into the game than any Troy people, especially when good things were happening.

Until the end. Midway through the 4th quarter, the Troy fans remaining got mighty loud.

They had a great reason to, and the people that stayed probably cared more about this game than Georgia-Clemson, LSU-TCU, etc. But yeah that stadium really came alive for 17 unanswered points and an overtime win over their only serious rival at home, lol.

Yes, it did. Not sure what all the laughing is about.

Hell, I'm with the Troy fans. At some point the energy has to stop coming from the fans all the time and needs to come from the team. The team should give you a reason to go crazy. For UAB fans, for most of 3 quarters, they did. But for Troy fans, it was some 1st quarter enthusiasm that was re-awakened in the 4th quarter.

Same crap happens at Legion Field, so I'm still not sure what the laughing is about.

It's funny because we were in it for the whole game, and they didn't care until the tail end of a ridiculous and exciting come back. People were leaving when it was tied at 31. Very funny to be shown up by UAB fans at your own stadium. Credit to us for being awesome.
I thought the Blazer fans brought it the whole game. One of the quietest home crowds I have ever witnessed. It also looked like the total attendance would not have filled up our home side.
& I lost my voice in the 2nd quarter & was pretty much drained by the 3rd.

We really didn't shut up until they made that field goal. And I was a little over 50% that we were gonna block it.
We came close to blocking several kicks.

The announcers on TV made lots of positive comments about the UAB crowd. That may help us one day when we are in bowl contention.
