Just noticed our logo has changed on ESPN. I was looking at our ESPN page and noticed the logo they are now using is the "JMU Dukes" with the Duke Dog head all the way to the right.

http://espn.go.com/college-football/team...ison-dukes

It's not a big deal but 1) its not our main logo (duke dog on top of JMU) and 2) it shows up poorly on other teams schedules and on other forms of media used by ESPN.

Does ESPN make these changes on their own or do they use whatever the school tells them to use?

PS - I won't even blame them for our page being blue and gold because it seems that lately JMU has changed to more of a blue than a purple.
Doesn't look good. That blue gradient also covers the logo on our page. Stupid ESPN...
Just another reason to dislike ESPN. Nothing new.
At least they finally switched to the correct shade of gold?
It got changed to this back during basketball season. I emailed them about it and complained about the blue background on our page...obviously they haven't changed it.
I actually emailed them about this over a month ago and have not received a response.
I had also asked them to please update our schedule with the correct times and to add Charlotte. They finally changed it a week ago, but the Charlotte game was removed from odu's page immediately after the news broke that they weren't playing odu anymore.
So they took the effort to remove it from fbs odu's schedule but then put off adding JMU-Charlotte for about a month. It shows how much effort they put into it. Fwiw, CBS and NBC don't even list Fcs teams and fox lists Fcs, but has so many incorrect symbols and doesn't list independents. They're using the old 1980 or earlier JMU logo on fox sports.com
I always forget about Yahoo Sports, but our team page is a step-up aesthetically from ESPN. They went heavy on the purple, and the Duke Dog head logo they use is in proportion to our opponents' logos. The incorrect school colors and wide & small logo on ESPN is truly terrible. Only small gripe I have with Yahoo--I didn't realize we were playing the Charlotte Y! Sports 03-wink
I always assumed JMU advised media outlets on the colors/logos to use. Does anyone know if this is the case or not?

I don't have a twitter account, but to be honest this is likely going to be more effective than expecting some intern to get around to doing it after seeing the email in 4 months.

excellently done sir
I actually agree with Dolley for a change. The logo on ESPN really does look like crap. Wish we'd go back to the old logo with the full Duke Dog instead of just the head, but even the head is better than what they've got. Hell, even the logo we use for this page would be better (seriously, why don't we have an Eastern Shore yet?!?).
That logo is terrible anyway. Can't they just put our normal logo out there? We really need new secondary logos. I wonder how a JMU letter mashup like VMI's logo would look if it were done in a clever way. Anyone good at graphics (I am not) that could try that?
