As Rocket fans, we have no interest in reading stories about how Bowling Green played so well against out upcoming opponent. Your story today was as much about the Falcons as it was about Toledo. You see, we don't give a s**t about BG and its athletics program that features a football stadium that's falling apart and a new basketball arena that's an overgrown high school gym.
Wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

What a moron.

When are you babies going to grow up?

So, when are you going to call out your own players?

Quote:"It gives us motivation," quarterback Terrance Owens said. "Bowling Green’s out of the MAC. We’re in the MAC. Anybody can beat anybody. It’s college football."

Chalk it up to a moment of weakness that Owens called Toledo’s nemesis by name instead of the preferred reference: "The Team Down South." Bernard Reedy erred as well.

"I looked at it like that," Reedy said of drawing encouragement from the Falcons’ close defeat. "But Bowling Green’s a different team than Toledo. I just feel like if we go out and execute what we’ve been doing in practice we’ll come out with the win."
Oh NO!!!!!!!! I came back...............03-puke

Haven't you paid attention over the years.

We call out our players all the time...........
In Ryan's defense, if he needs one, he wrote a story that is there for the picking. So many parallels: two important teams to Blade readers; common, highly ranked opponent; same game, different season . . . .

He also got into the details of the relationship between Bernard Reedy and his high school teammate, Dante Fowler, at UF who is an outstanding defensive player for the Gators. It will be interesting to see their interactions on the field. He's #6.

Even TO and Bernard brought up the Falcons.

Ryan has done and is doing an excellent job covering the Rockets. A win in Gainesville will forever change the story line! GO ROCKETS!

Well said. Unfortunately some people on the boards complain when there isn't enough local coverage and then they complain where there is local coverage.

Thanks for all you do Ryan.

No, no, NMR. None of that. We're all babies and morons and I never argue with Tommie about babies or morons cuz he's got waaaaay more experience than anyone here in those arenas. That having been said I would have been surprised if someone hadn' t drawn the parallels. I thought it was a good article.
I disagree with the original post. I think Ryan does a great job covering UT sports, and if NIU had played Florida last year, the comparison of a MAC team playing a common opponent on the road makes good sense.
I think Ryan does a great job...give him a follow on Twitter. He routinely mentions the Rockets there as well.

My apologies to anyone I offended in the rocket nation. I was pretty sure I had seen a time or twenty someone complaining about coverage, or the lack of it, by the Blade. Apparently I was mistaken.

Good luck in the swamp.

Wait, is the board disagreeing with this? Seems like it is. I like Ryan's writing but I stopped reading when I realized the article was about that other school.

I need consensus people. I'm not here to make decisions. Was I supposed to keep reading? Oh my gosh, I can't handle all this turmoil.

Now the story on the three boneheads that tried to put each other in the hospital, that I read. Why am I thinking the one in most trouble is the one that did the right(ish) thing (except for the running from cops part that is)?
I am breaking my word, as I said I was done until after our game, but seeing this comment from Reedy...

Reedy also revealed what he believes is the key to upsetting the No. 10 Gators.

"Late in the game they don’t go as hard as they do in the first and second quarters," he said. "I feel like if we can just keep the pressure on them we can eventually wear them down. They have depth, but they don’t have a lot of experience on their team."

Really? That comment seems completely 180 degrees out of phase. The Gators do not go hard in the second half?

Well, we are going to find out.

RR
Lets get off his back...Ryan is better than most weve had covering UT...fair balanced article...good job Ryan.

I was surprised to hear that comment as well...I'm sure he'll hear about it on the field from his buddy Fowler.
I agree to disagree only because I agreed with whatever - DOT DOT DOT
Ryan has covered UT better than anyone I have seen in my time Toledo.
