Sure looks that way, guess we will see!

On Monday morning, with no context or explanation, heralded point guard Emmanuel Mudiay tweeted, "Sometimes u just have to shock the world!"
The meaning of that tweet became a bit more intriguing four days later when Rivals.com's No. 3 Class of 2014 recruit revealed he will announce his college destination on ESPNU during the Under Armour Elite 24 event on Saturday night.................

SMU might be a player this year...

thoughts?
First one that comes to mind is that he would be making a huge mistake if he actually wants to win basketball games. Next one that comes to mind is that if he's getting his degree and getting it for free then that's a pretty good place to do it.
In the 2011-12 season before Larry Brown came to SMU they averaged 1970 fans per game. Last year with Larry Brown the SMU basketball fan base was so energized that they averaged 2013 fans. So basically he got 43 more people to attend the games...probably family members. They had 5,000 for our game but there were a lot of Memphis fans there.
I ain't hatin'.

Great for the conference if true.

SMU, Tulsa and Tulane can all have strong basketball programs if they set their minds to it. Prestigious degrees + large city location + money to hire big-name coaches is an advantageous combination. Now they also belong to a fairly prestigious basketball conference with great national exposure.

I wouldn't put Tulane on that list. I live in New Orleans, and Tulane is an after thought in the city, and when it comes to Bball, they aren't even a blimp on the radar down here. But then again, New Orleans basketball in general is an after thought around here. I could never understand it
I don't understand why this would be a bad decision at all for the kid:

1. HOF Coach for his 1 year of CBB.
2. SMU - great school, great city, emerging basketball program.
3. Moody Coliseum - they're just now putting the finishing touches on a multi-million dollar renovation.
3. AAC - every single conference game on national TV.

This would be outstanding for the conference. I hope it happens.

I'm sure that's true, but such things can change.
From the article:

Quote:Pair Mudiay with 2013 McDonald's All-American Keith Frazier, heralded junior college big man Yanick Moreira and a wealth of depth, and SMU would have a chance to begin the 2014-15 season in the preseason top 20.

and the next one that comes to mind is that they have a very wealthy "support base." Always have. I was amazed that two guys as good as Eric Dickerson and Craig James would want to ply their trade at that school vs. more acclaimed schools with a history of on field success.

SMU hired that staff to get into the WWW pipeline and it looks like its working
Until the death penalty, SMU was a national powerhouse.
They'd had years and years of success. Ask Eric and Craig.
It was by no means a slouch program.

If Emmanuel Mudiay picks SMU, teams in the @American_Conf would be able to recruit any player in America. Something to watch moving fwd.

This would be huge for both SMU and the AAC as a whole. Would be awesome to see Mudiay spur Cal for Brown and SMU.

The opportunity to play for one of the great basketball minds around would be what I would be thinking.
Would be good for the conference. I hope they land him.
Just announced SMU during halftime of UA Elite 24 game. Great get for SMU and the AAC as a conference.04-cheers Also ***** coach x and the KY Jelly fans.03-nutkick GTG

Our first game is against UCONN on 1/4. Had fun blasting Kentucky fans last night. Mention Coach Cal and they get very defensive and blame it all on Memphis. And no we are not going back to our old ways.
Cats fans going off and saying Cal losing his touch now that he lost Wiggins and now Mudiay.....What a joke them, Coach Cal, and that whole bunch are....Just saying.....We struck gold with Coach Josh, And Again I am telling everyone the TrUeTh here Kuran "Truth" Iverson is the real deal and has more pro game than Wiggins in the long run and is gonna show it this year.....All for one, One for all, All for Memphis....The World Is Ours Memphis....
