As usual and per the AUP you agreed to when signing up for the site ... only quote a very small part of an article (paragraph or two) and then link to it. Quoting full or nearly full articles is copyright infringement.

Plus it seems the Blade has some real pricks working for it. My exchange with them:

In the future, be less of "I'll sue everyone!" dick. You get more flies with honey than vinegar, and you get enormous amounts of traffic from my site. I'm happy to comply with valid copyright requests like this one, as total policing of our nearly 10 million posts is impossible. However, if I had a nickel for every time somebody has threatened me with legal ruin for bogus reasons I could retire. I've had a doctor convicted of malpractice in the US who fled to Malaysia threatening to sue me under UNITED NATIONS laws because of posts discussing her shenanigans at the University of Cincinnati hospital were on the board. As a result, I have very low tolerance for somebody showing up in my email inbox doing the legal version of standing outside my house in a black suit, tie, sunglasses, and slowly beating a baseball bat into their palms. I can simply ban all links to the toledoblade altogether, which would impact your bottom line far more than three nearly full articles that still had links back.

Blowback in action.

God forbid I singlehandedly caused the Blade to sink financially. Wasn't even aware I was violating copyright law as the source was quoted, as well as the links to each story.

Hmmm...wonder if the Blade patrols the BUGS message board with the same intensity...
Typical myopic and heavy handed Blah PoV. Their contempt for Toledo and their readers is unparalleled.
Let this be a lesson to you all...do not post links to Blade articles here anymore. The only reason I ever have access to them is because you all link them here.

In the future, let's just go with "I read in a local article that so and so broke his such and such, etc. and will be out for x amount of weeks."
I wish the university had enough money and local popularity to ban its city's newspaper from campus. That'd be a great news story...
The Blade's ownership and senior staff's heavy-handed attempts to bully and intimidate a variety of city officials and University officials in order to try to gain control over them is why the wife and I decided to cancel our subscription to the Blade about 15 years ago.

It is really too bad because they had some decent writers and reporters at that time and we enjoyed many of their feature articles and background stories; however, in the final analysis we just could not put up with the smug arrogance, hubris and self serving paternalism of John R. Block et al.

Today I feel pretty much the same way about all the lying mainstream media which is essentially controlled by six major corporations (that understandably tend to push their own agendas and to boot usually try to present news as "entertainment", or vice-versa) so I rely totally on the internet for the news (much of which is ONLY available there and can usually be found reported from several different perspectives).
The only links I ever click on/read from the Blah are articles about UT. I refuse to read any other articles. I almost think it would be a good thing for GTS to block all Blah links, that way they lose a good amount of traffic.

This,

and the people and ideas they (and are) bullying were often people, ideas or politicians I didn't side with or outright didn't like but

a newspaper has no business trying to influence ANYTHING, let alone who gets elected.

They lost my cable $ too. We got Time Warner out here as an option.
