Time to give Bob his due. If we're gonna bash him when he's wrong, we need to give credit when he's right. Very nice article

I agree. I gave him his credit at the bottom of the article. Mabey his best writeup ever.
Yeah, nice article fro Mr. Molinaro. I liked this one, "We should all live so long to see such crowds (45, 000+) at ODU." I'm 50 and I plan on it!
Building it and they will come!
I agree. This is a very good writeup. Bob is usually so overly negative about everything. However, I doubt he gives a flip what any of us think. He never has. I guess that is what it takes to be the "negative guy" for so long.
The guy who said we wouldn't win a game in the Caa and predicted footballs failure at ODU is now jumping on the bandwagon??

Shocking.
I thought "props to Bob" meant Bobby Wilder. And I was wondering how the HECK anyone could have been "bashing him" at one point.

lulz.
He is recovering from being made to eat so much BIG BLUE CROW.
It was much better than his usual sniping but I did not appreciate the following lines: "It might seem ludicrous that the proposed stadium would be designed so it could expand to 45,000 or more seats. We should all live so long to see such crowds at ODU." I do not think expanding to 45,000 seats is "ludicrous" and I concur with paintedblue I will live to see crowds of 45,000. Oh and I should add I am 60 and folks in my family do not tend to have longer than the normal life span but I still believe I will see 45,000.
Why anyone thinks that by putting the new stadium back next to the river will increase traffic problems, I don't understand. There are only two lots back there for tailgating currently, and definitely the Whitehurst white lot will be gone once they build. So, all tailgating lots are on the campus side of powhatan avenue and closer to Hampton Blvd. So, how will this make traffic worse? Maybe they will build parking decks next to the stadium, then I can buy the argument. Can someone explain their logic?
I dunno...

Bob's article seems replete with "left handed" compliments and negatives; more of a grudging acceptance of the way things are than any real compliments about ODU.

I've been wondering the same thing about all the parking/traffic concerns. Just because the stadium moves does not mean that the parking is moving.

That's a really good point, and it got me thinking more about parking. I tried to find the total number of on campus parking spaces available at ODU, but I could not find it on the interwebs. We know that what is available now is working. Assuming that all available game day parking is being used now adding 10, 000 seats would dictate an additional 2, 500 spaces using the standard good planning ratio of 4:1. If expanded to 45, 000 seats there will meed to be an additional 6, 250 spaces than there are right now. That is a lot of spaces, pun intended.

I did a little research and found a doc. regarding Tulane's new stadium and the fact that the university is only planning on adding 200 new spaces http://saveourneighborhoods.me/category/parking/ They apparantly have some problems with their neighbors. I'm glad ODU is being pro-active in including surrounding neighborhoods in the planning process.

I've been silently wondering that exact same thing for months. Should have asked it so you wouldn't have had to make an account. +1 to you.
In the sales world, young reps will often say "so-and-so is an ahole". My response is "well, that may be so, but he is your ahole now".

Bob is a grumpy dork, but he is OUR grumpy dork.

Need to manage him, and this article is better than most he produces. This is progress.

Wood Selig said on the radio that the parking should be arranged as 1 car for every 3 people. So you are going to need to find another 3000 parking spots.
I think it'll be just fine if they end up with parking garages at the corners of campus with surface lots being setup as tailgate zones. The stadium is exciting but I'm nearly equally excited to see the rest of the campus plan.
They gotta put some docks up and great an environment where you can also boat in and tailgate on the water. I love the spot of the new stadium
Agreed. A few hundred slips would be amazing.

10,000 more seats?
