Hopefully that is a typo...9/14/14 is a Sunday.
Looks like a chance to start 3-0
I wonder how far it is to Arkansas. I will try my best to go to the Miss State game as it's only about an hour drive from tuscaloosa.
A long way away. I think even if you were to fly in to Little Rock & drive from there it is still a good drive.

I have heard horror studies on people trying to get to Fayetteville.

It is roughly 533 miles from Bham to Fayetteville.
Yeah, I've never been there, but I've always heard Fayetteville is one of those "You can't get there from here" places.
At home with Troy to open, at MSU, then at home vs Alabama A&M. Later in the season at Arkansas probably for their homecoming in late October.

Good non conference slate next year, so we will have 6 home games next year.
They play a game in Little Rock every year at War Memorial. Many of their fans think it could be us.
That would make it easier.

368 miles from Birmingham to Little Rock.

It's almost 6 hours from Memphis, and it's a long boring drive. Plus, once you get there, the hotel prices are outrageous.
136 miles from Memphis to Little Rock, 301 to Fayetteville.

Yep. Fayeteville is a hard flight (mostly props) and an impossible drive. And God forbit it start raining while you're driving there or you may never get there.

Downtown used to have a pretty nice entertainment district, but few and very expensive hotel rooms on football weekends.
if you have to play in fayettenam, you are better off staying in fort smith and driving over on game day. its a 5 1/2 hour drive from memphis, so figure about 8 1/2 from birmingham IF you dont get wacked in the eternal construction zone between memphis and little rock.
Strange that we're playing a SEC team so late in the season as I thought we always got them out of the way in Sept then got on w/ the conference games
I've always wanted to go to Arkansas, but didn't realize it was that long of a drive.

According to my Rand Mc Nally, Memphis to Little Rock is 137 mi and Little Rock to Fayetteville is another 188 miles (total given is 318 mi). That is about the drive from Huntsville to Mobile on I-65. Years ago, I drove the interstate from Memphis to Fort Smith (where I see I-540 from the Fayetteville area now connects with I-40) to get to visit relatives in Tulsa, and it seemed to go on forever. About 50 miles further north is Bentonville where Sam Walton got his start.

The only time it didn't was the time we visited Weadecker Winery in Altus, AR and they sold all the wine you wanted to buy at $1 per bottle - and that was after the free tasting go around of their 19 wines.

The scenic route is to go over from Jonesboro through the Ozarks on US 62 through Mountain Home and Harrison before swinging south west towards Fayetteville on US 412. It has always been one of my favorite drives for scenery. They have replaced the ferry on Norfork Lake with bridges since I last traveled the route.

Unless you have an extra day to travel, DO NOT take this route. It's still two lane for a large portion of the distance, and full of curves that slow you down. Beautiful, yes, but very tiring if you're the one driving.
Rand McNally....people still have books of maps?

The article has been corrected to Saturday, 9/13/14.
Arky usually plays two games in little Rock. One at the start of the season and then an SEC team late in the season. If really looks like we will be a homecoming game in NW Ark.
