Hey all,

Chip alum here, we use the scout website instead of this one. Nice place though.

Anyway, judging by the schedule, it appears NIU has a chance to run the table this year. Biggest hurdle in my opinion will be the games against the MAC West, like BSU and UT. I am still not sure how NIU lost to Iowa last year when we beat them, but it's the way it rolls sometimes.

I will be pulling for NIU like I do the entire MAC (minus WMU boo) to do well, outside of facing CMU 03-wink. Lynch is the real deal and will contend for major awards. Iowa and Purdue should be wins, plain and simple. The expectations for NIU are very high for me and I think they can do big things. Honest opinion, I think NIU will go 10-2 or 11-1 with their schedule. They are the class of the MAC in recent memory, as CMU was from 2006-2009. Hoping they can go 2-0 against the Big10 this year, couldn't tell you the last time that happened.

Fellow predictions? Games to worry about?
Thanks for the kind words. Our road schedule is pretty tough this year so finishing with less than two losses would be a real achievement. First of all Kelly-Shorts has been a house of horrors for our boys. We've won like once in forever up there so winning that one will be no small thing. If your new QB pans out (seems to be leaning toward Kater from what I read a few days ago) you guys could make it interesting in the West. Iowa and Purdue will be tough of course and Toledo will be a war. And Kent State could actually be better than last year if their new QB is as advertised. I have no predictions because the MAC is always unpredictable. OK I predict we score a lot of points. Should be a fun season. Good luck to you guys and win your nonconference games!!

You guys should take care of UNLV and NC State, and I hope Michigan goes well for you.

CMU seems to be coming back after losing LeFevour. Frankly I thought NIU would take a couple of steps back after losing Harnish but obviously, Lynch filled the void and more.

Oh, and besides your OOC games, take care of Toledo.

Honestly, I don't see Iowa or Purdue beating NIU. Call me biased toward the the MAC, but I think NIU can win both, they will definitely win 1. I would be incredibly surprised to see them open up at 2-2.

Kent was pretty good last year, but I for one, thought they were overrated. Throttled by a terrible UK team (dont give me the SEC crap, they were 2-10), lost rather convincingly to Ark St, and they were very lucky to even be in the game with NIU. Not to take anything away from them, but their record seemed a bit inflated to me. Great job representing the MAC though. This year they lose 3 starters on the OL, their QB (regardless of talent, he was experienced), and their top WR. They will probably go 6-6.

Ball State is rebuilding their line but they will be a threat and UT will likely be a tough game. As much Chip pride as I have, I don't see us beating NIU. Maybe we can have another field day like in 2011, but I doubt it. NIU should win the MAC in my opinion and go to a good bowl game.

Note: These 2 BIG10 games are important. I feel as if it is starting to show that the top MAC teams can definitely beat the middle-bottom BIG10 teams. I know this is more of a fact. But NIU can make some noise going 2-0. Kind of like how BSU has beaten IU 3 years in a row.

Like I said earlier, maybe I am a MAC slappy. I believe NIU will go 4-0 in OOC games. I do not see them losing to both Iowa and Purdue. Both have lost to MAC teams recently and they are both breaking in new QBs. Idaho and EIU will be blowouts. I will be surprised of NIU goes 2-2, and slightly surprised to see them go 3-1. My expectations are high.

I guess you are one of few who think winning on the road is an easy task. 2011 Huskies lost to an atrocious CMU team on the road and almost lost to a bad Army team last year. Winning on the road is never easy, doesn't matter who the opponent is.

With that said, NIU is a better team than anyone on their schedule.

You CMU guys need to switch over to this site. Join the party. We have lots of NIU, Toledo, WMU, EMU and Kent State fans on their own boards here, plus the MAC board. The CMU board looks awfully lonely with 1 person posting on there.
