Looking forward to this. I'm glad we signed with CBS and not ESPN. I wish we could find out what the $$ was. But, I don't care, the Western US will see the game on regular CBS and that in of itself is pretty good for a conference considered part of the G5.

True.

That's way better than getting stuck with E$PN. [jealous]

Definitely. It'll give the MW title game a lot of exposure being on CBS than ESPN, ESPN 2 or CSB Sports Network.
Its pretty obvious that the networks have by default made the MWC and AAC the top 2 of the g5. I think they want to see some bad blood and competition between those two.

Too bad we didn't do an AAC #1 vs MW #1 bowl. We should have let our #2's, #3's, and 4's play the P-5 #7's, 8's and 9's.

Perhaps on the next 6 year cycle.

I think this is the best way to get a G5 into the playoff when they expand to 8 teams. Play the MWC Champ vs. AAC Champ during conference championship weekend.

but the only way to do that is to merge into one conference.

Merging would create a great basketball tournament too. NM vs Memphis and UConn vs UNLV should bring national attention.

Why? Aren't we talking about a P5/G5 split, stipends and/or a major modification of the NCAA? I just don't the with the NCAA being rendered more and more impotent on a daily basis that the bylaws and regulations aren't nearly as sacrosanct as they used to be.
I really wish we could just merge. It would be a tremendous conference. I'd put that champ against anyone in either sport.

I agree as it played out...a merger with 7-9 teams in both an eastern and western division would be perfect. The winner of each division plays at the highest rated team in early December. Basketball championship meets in either Memphis, NOLA or Las Vegas.
Excellent. I lived in that area for a number of years, and I like the Mountain West.

24 football teams. NCAA requires playing everybody in your division one time. To do what' you're saying we'd have to have a 14th "regular season" game, a championship for each league and then a dual league championship.

I'd love to merge and drop some of the dead weight (schools that suck at both major sports) from each side.

Time to find an airport.

It should be considered if we were to lose Cinci and UConn.

No need to merge. The G5 has an auto-tie to an Access bowl and the MW is just fine as it is, and in good position to be the highest ranked champ from the G5.

It should be considered WITH Cincy and Uconn. 18 in football. Round robin on both sides. 16 team basketball tournament. Rotate between Vegas and Memphis.
