Went to the movie "JOBS" last night. The beginning was slow to develop, too much time spent on Apple 1, Apple II, McIntosh and early Apple growing problems. Had one small segment about Bill Gates pirating Apple operating system, other than the opening scene about iPod, the movie did not reach that era of Apple's existence. Movie just didn't seem to have continuity. Seemed as though they only wanted to tell part of the story, and the best part might actually be about Apple from where the movie ended. I guess I expected something different or at least better than what was presented.
I haven't seen it but it seems like it wants to be sort of a big screen version of the TV movie "Pirates of Silicon Valley" which is actually very good. I don't know about jOBS but I'll give at a look at some point. The dynamic of the competition/rivalry shown in "Pirates" between Jobs and Gates and the story of how companies forged their way into an emerging market is really interesting.

According to Woz and loads of other people directly involved with the story, "Pirates of Silicon Valley" is pretty much as accurate of a telling that it could have been. On the other hand, the JOBS movie has received bashing from those same people as a drummed up Hollywood movie which continues telling this fairy-tale of who Jobs was and what he did. At Sundance (maybe Cannes?), people boo'ed and walked out.

I'll wait for the home movie release.
Watch Pirates of Sillicon Valley...they nailed it...great movie.

Agreed. I loved it
Is Pirates of Silicon Valley on video yet? Maybe Amazon Instant?
Okay I did see Pirates of Silicon valley years ago on cable. Very interesting just wish they had found better actors.
Noah Wyle was a better Jobs than Kutcher IMO. Wyle even did a follow up at an Apple event

I've liked Kutcher in other movies...but casting Ashton Kutcher as Steve Jobs makes as much sense as someone wanting to cast Barack Obama as Ronald Reagan.

Wyle is a pretty bad actor. This movie was no exception.

I'm going to let that slide

Wyle may well be a pretty bad actor, but Kutcher is far, far, far worse.

You have not seen "The Butterfly Effect"

Really good movie and really good performance by Kutcher

I was very surprised at his performance.
I thought Pirates was Wyle's best movie performance by far...I enjoyed the interactions between Wyle and Anthony Michael Hall...I also thought Joey Slotnick was a great Woz.

Unfortunately that may be his best performance. He ruined ER for me.

Oh, but I have seen The Butterfly Effect. I'm thinking you haven't seen too many good movies then...
