I think this issue involves UC's courtship of Skip. Downey probably just happened to talk with Skip about the possibility of him staying if Skip took the job. Once UC could not afford Skip there is the little matter of this contact and the concern for Wake and their Coach's possible NCAA violation and how UC would get pulled in to the mess. It may not have been direct contact but I sure there is some sort of issue with Mr. Prosser.
This only supports all the rumors of Skip to UC and the last minute hire of Cronin. AK got stuck in the middle. What a cluster xxxx.

I guess that's possible, but that's an awful lot of speculation to digest.

I'll agree! Anyone who humors me the way Demoengr does every time he calls a UC opponent "faceless saps" on the prediction threads is alright in my book. That is hilarious to me every time...
Just Prosser hanging around with Huggins at the parade and the ball game in front of Cincy fans was enough to get Wake Forest on tha ban list. With all the rumors about Nancy getting Skip for the UC coach and she didn't I imagine something happened between the two and he wound up on her sh%% list with Huggins, AK and others to be named later. Huggins and skip were friends yesterday and Nancy sure wasn't included. With all the things going on behind closed doors she must hate Huggins with a purple passion. The feeling is mutual I'm sure. Reread Mick's quotes. The water is just hot enough that he does not want to stick his toes in it. It appears clear (to me anyway) that the fact that these comments got out for general cosumption is that a warning shot has been fired.

Faceless Saps is a reference to my years of playing ultimate tournaments rarely knowing the other teams names or players, thus who do we play next?
Is it possible that old AAU coaches and such had been involved as a middle man which is so common in recruiting. Maybe UC knew Wake was the leader and felt if Wake was eliminated that Downey would be more likely to come back to UC???
I hope the above is not the case because it is a shame if a kid was trapped, and was blocked from going to a non conference school 1000 miles away so he could get close to home just to be blocked so UC would have a better shot at keeping him. It seems like Downey is a good guy, and has went through a lot in his 1 year at UC.
I also love the "Faceles Saps" name that all UC opponentes get. I hope to see it again starting in the fall. Thanks for the humor.
