Kinda scary that he is saying Kay is hurting and that the QB competition is much closer than we think.

I wonder how close Coney is to competing for that spot.

I know CTT hasn't won a game yet, but I love the way he just talks no BS or coach speak.
I have to wonder how bad Kay's shoulder is...
Right around the 3:00 mark, you can see Crook crutching around in the background. Before his injury he put another 10lbs or so in the weight room.
I heard that Munchie is playing his heart out and looking good (in practice of course).

I trust that TT will have the right guy in their as starter at the right time....I support whoever ends up winning the job.

I got the impression last season that Munchie typically looked good at practice.
That's because he didn't have to throw into actual coverage packages in practice.

Not the practices I watched. What you see is what you get.
Munchie is Munchie (other than no dreads) - witnessed practice, still very inconsistent - throwing motion continues to change each throw, doesn't follow through on reads (either stares down or only reads 1st or 2nd option), and still tends to hold onto the ball a little longer than the others. Do I think he is better than last year - hard to tell from practice conditions, but the above observations lead me to say probably no. Will his playing IQ be better - possibly, I think having a proven QB coach will help him a ton. Can UC win with him - yes, but the game plan has to be made to his strengths (one of the failings of Jones and staff last year IMO).

Coney looked to be pushing hard, did some really nice stuff. Going to be a heck of a battle next year. Gunner has a big arm, but I think Coney has a better overall package at this stage.

I would be shocked if Kay was not the starter in two weeks, even if sore, he still looked better than the others.

I should clarify that I got that impression from what others were saying on this board (i.e. Kay could be a gamer, Munchie plays better in practice - that sort of thing). I haven't watched any myself.

Thanks very informative.
Hopefully TT is just trying to push Kay and isn't seriously considering Munchie. If Kay is healthy enough to play 75% of Kay>110% of Munchie.
Nothing would take away from my excitement about UC football more than Munchie starting at QB. I will not watch that again this year.
The way i took it was it wasn't so much competition was close, but that QB1 was going to come down to whether Kay was healthy enough to run the offense.

If he's not, I say we give Coney the reigns.

We know what we have with Munchie, and it ain't much. I saw more than enough last year to convince me that Munchie is way out of his element at QB.

i don't know if that would be fair to Coney. He's been running with the 2s and 3s and not scrimmaging against our defensive 1s. if that is the path they were going to take, it should have been established way earlier.
I don't think Coney should start over Munchie....Coney is brand new and running with the 2's and 3's and at least Munchie has started against BCS teams and won.
I have confidence that whoever starts, the coaching staff will have a game plan prepared to play to that individual's strengths. This staff has a ton of experience (something we're not used to) and I'm confident that they'll have the Bearcats ready for Purdue. Can't wait!

Isn't everybody new to the system? I see what you are saying but if Coney's better, Tuberville will throw him in with the 1's and see how it goes. My concern about Coney getting the job is re-opening competition next summer to Coney and Kiel. Coney wasn't exactly chopped liver coming out of high school (neither was Munchie) but maybe this shouldn't be a concern and Kiel will get a chance to compete for the starting job regardless.
