The guy in the article thinks it is humiliating to have a drug test once a year to be allowed to live in CHA housing. He is currently living in Old Town(wish I could afford).

UMMM, you can get an apartment anywhere you want, just cant have the subsidy to live cheaper.

How is this a violation of his civil liberties, he is applying for tax dollars and there are strings attached. These people make me sick.

Quote:“It’s humiliating, embarrassing, stigmatizing, and it’s unfair,” Peery said in an interview. “I think it needs to end.”

That basicly applies to CHA housing in general, but he seems to have gotten over that. Living on the dole should be embarrassing. That keeps people motivated to get off it.
From what I understand, tenants who are paying full market price rents are also being tested; if that's the case this guy doesn't have a leg to stand on.

He is working and trying to support himself so I give him credit for that but if I could get half off my taxes, insurance and interest by submitting to a drug test monthly, tell me when and where do I need to go, no problem.

He's getting a break at taxpayer expense, not too much to ask that he isn't blowing his income on an illegal substance.

I also believe that families who are getting income, housing or food assistance from a gov't body should not get any increased help when they add an additional family member. Call me a cold hearted bastard but if I'm supporting your standard of living the least you can do is not increase the burden of those who are supporting you financially. Take that those of you who thought I was a tax money wasting whore
