First I've seen of these since they looked at prototypes over the winter:

looks kinda cool - but also like a little kid bedazzled them
more importantly. why do we care what ODUs helmets look like?
Agree on why we should care.

That being said, I don't like the design, look a bit strange.

Odd statement considering you clicked on the thread
The Eastern Shore made it onto the helmet! Drinks all around!
Haha, I thought their old ones were bad. Like anybody will be able to make out that stupid state thing from more than 10 feet away. Just awful.

It is pretty much a visual clusterf*ck...which is strange given that ODU has overall made excellent decisions regarding their football program. That last helmet logo is not one of their better decisions.
I really like the state logo (we had it first though, duh)...the number on the other side looks tacky and that phrase on the front is dumb.
This looks like my helmet in pee wee football. It looks like something a 6th grader painted.
Agreed HH&C, this helmet design is an absolute traveshamockery
I though W&M's mascot was horrible but this helmet beats the half naked dragon/horse.
Why don't they just go with a simple "ODU"? This is going to look awful on TV and in person.
Yeah, I think the concept is fine (as they lifted it from us) but the execution isn't right. The actual helmet color is too muted and it just kind of looks sloppy.
yep, not a fan of them to be honest and i'm not just saying that because it's ole dirty. The number on the other side screams Alabama wannabe and the font makes it difficult to make out even when the photo is taken from about a foot away. No one will have a clue what it is from the stands.
You won't be able to make out what the logo is inside of the state logo except up close and that somewhat defeats the purpose.
You're all just jealous that we will prance onto the field looking fabulous
Agree with all the comments above including the one about why is there a thread about this on JMU's boards? One more reason for ODU trolls to come around (although they seem to come no matter what).

They copied the state logo design from JMU (yes the JMU logo was inspired by ECU but different state = different logo) so no points for creativty.

The helmets are the kind of thing that sound great as an idea but will look terrible on TV. ODU needs all the help they can get in terms of branding because they are a small school that not many people know of without a geographic location in their name. This is not the way to do it.

Now back to more important conversations about football season how despite the FCS/FBS debate, JMU will always be better than ODU.

Yeah, no one is denying that your team will "prance" on the field....03-lmfao
The front of the helmet says "Aim High". We all know they aim for their opponents helmets, no need to advertise it.
There is simply just no accounting for taste. Those helmets suck! Who comes up with this stuff?
