Pay no attention to what the man said. He was probably drunk when he said it.
Based on last season, the only prize West virginia is fighting for is its life.
Quote:It’s just a shame that the Pirates and Mountaineers aren’t scheduled to play each other this season. Perhaps the football gods will have a sense of humor and match the teams together in a bowl game.

Pirates vs Mountaineers in the Liberty Bowl would be most excellent!

After this comment, I would have to mark that game down as a must see should it actually happen.
I might be mistaken on this point but didn't ECU vote against stipends? If that is the case Holgorsen's point is justified. He may have used a bit of hyperbole in his statement but otherwise I think the blogger completely missed the point.
I can assure you that Holgerson is regretting his choice of words as we speak. Most of the WVU faithful do not feel that way about us... Marshall is another story.

Still, it was a stupid thing for him to say.

Rutgers and Wake Forest voted against the stipend too, but Holgersen didn't mention either of those schools.

The writer didn't miss the point. The UNC, Duke and NC State crowds just want it to be known that they see WVU the same way that they see ECU. They even mentioned the fact that WVU and ECU used to be in the same conference together.

You know that saying, "Be nice to people on your way up because you'll see them again on your way down"? If Holgorsen finishes in the bottom half of the Big 12 a couple more times, his next stop will be at one of those CUSA or AAC programs he just slammed.
I'm really, REALLY hoping for an ECU vs WVU Liberty Bowl. I think it has a decent chance at happening. 07-coffee3
I predict Holgorsen will be fired by the end of 2015. He will either say something or do something really stupid...but more likely repeated losing seasons will do him in. Marrone coached circles around him last year in the Pinstripe Bowl.

WVU won more games than you guys did last year but we are "fighting for our lives"? So what does that say about the Uconn football program?

The WVU bashing on this board is hilarious considering we have a winning record against almost every team's fans that posts on this board. Pitt, Cuse and VT I can understand but f'n ECU, UL,Uconn and Marshall? Gimme a f'n break.

With all due respect, is there a reliable "source" that has accurate information about whether a school "voted" for the stipend or not? I was not aware there has been a formal, vote and, if so, who voted yes or no. All I have seen are tweets from the "usual suspects" and we all know (or, by now, should know) what these are worth.

The writer is saying that Holgorson thinks ECU doesn't belong on the same field because they can't compete. I think Holgorson was saying they don't belong on the same field if they limit the ability of big programs to do the things they want to do. Holgorson is complaining about the smaller schools acting as a anchor pulling down the big schools due to there own limitations.

I don't understand the bolded part of your comment. It has no mention in the article.
Holgreson was a drunken, idiotic, ******* when he was OC in Stillwater. Nothing's changed, just the scenery. Here's to him driving drunk and slipping off a mountainside road in Morgantown. Karma being what it is. 04-cheers

Great, now we're quoting words of wisdom from Ralph Kramden? 03-lmfao
The next idea the P5 will have is to pay 1 player a whole bunch of money as a 12th player on the field. If the other schools can't keep up and pay for having 12 players on the field instead of 11, well that's their problem.

You do realize your coach is George O'Leary right...

BTW UCF is 0-2 against WVU. 45-20 and 36-18.
