I had a very brief conversation with Coach Strong this weekend. His very general statements were (nothing surprising here):
- Drew Windler is really going to help us
- The young guys are looking good
- Not sure how effective we're going to be on offense with the loss of Ian and Kerron
Regarding the last point about offense, I think we are going to see a more vintage Belmont offense this year than we had with Clark and Johnson. We did much less of the motion, post feeds, and backdoors with those guys due to their ability to create. I bet we see more sets, more motion, and more inside-out this year, which is what Byrd's teams have typically done. I am hoping that Coach Strong, who has no frame of reference outside of Ian/Kerron, is not yet seeing the full picture of how a Rick Byrd offense operates. At least I hope so...
