+1...But not vice versa...Double standards, don't you just love them?

Pulling out my "Bull**** Card!"

Nothing new here. Taylor Britt transfered to Bama in FB and Michal Riley in BB some years ago. They also said they don't allow transfers to teams they have to play but then allowed QB Star Jackson to transfer to GA State who they played that same year. The Bama administration is only consistent on one point - "Thou shalt not be allowed to transfer to UAB for any sport" (check the 11th commandment).

Last ones I remember being able to do so were Keith McCord and Norman Anchrum...the rest is history...
Gene Jones was also a transfer from Alabama
Will Devaughn
Seems like we have benefitted a lot more from the Bama to UAB connection than Bama has benefitted from the UAB to Bama connection.

That ruins popular opinion though that they never allow transfers.

I know of only one incident that they blocked a transfer, and I suspect that was related to Mike Davis, and probably did UAB a favor by not saying why they were blocking. I also suspect Phil Martelli did us a favor as well.

But paranoia is more fun.

Frank Barone, err....Martelli may or may not have done us a favor, but there is something just plain wrong with a school having any say over what a student chooses to do or where he chooses to go after graduation. Especially when combined by with the fact that scholarships are typically for one year terms.
Ok, I've heard of McCord (from WEHS?) and Anchrum (from Wenonah?), But I don't recall Gene Jones or Will Devaughn. What were their years at UAB after playing for Bama?.

And why should UAB be glad Martelli blocked that center from playing one year for UAB?
Stumbled across this article regarding the Justin Knox matter that mentions some of the UA/UAB transfers over the years.

I didn't mean we should be happy he blocked the transfer. I think it might be embarrassing to UAB that he refused to say why he blocked it. If there was tampering involved by Mike Davis, it would be a black eye against UAB. This is all speculation, but I have heard others who suspected the same about Davis involving both Knox and OBrien.
So basicly Memphis has proven that BlazerTalk is full of paranoid conspiricy theorist and that the BOT is not "out to get" UAB. There has been athletes that have transfered from UA to UAB. Maybe the BOT was right, there isn't enough interest in UAB for a stadium. Facts are Facts.

The BOT has nothing to do with player transfers. If you think that, then you truly are a paranoid conspiracy (note the correct spelling) nut (easier to spell than theorist)

Wow are you so set in your way to be sarcastic that you think everyone is being sarcastic toward you. I just said the same thing you proved, that everything (including the BOT) associated with UA is not out to get us.
But please, wallow in your own arrogance of "snarkiness".

Also:
As far as mispellings, let's see how whale you spell witout auto-correct to fix avery speling you try too spell. 03-yawn.

Actually autocorrect causes me more problems than it is worth. I hate it and spell better without it. Don't question my spelling prowess dammit. I won my seventh grade spelling bee and that was long before autocorrect.

And I've read enough of rooks post to know that he was being sarcastic.
I "cents" a new rivalry.

Awww Memphis, when you think you know someone so well. I wasn't being sarcastic, and if I was it wasn't towards you. BUt allow me to offer an olive branch:

"I truly do agree with Memphis. Not everyone in the UA system is out to get us." 03-thumbsup lol
UAB in its Basketball infancy was a destination option for many good basketball players from Memphis and Birmingham who wanted to stay close to home but scholarships limititations excluded them from participation at the more established programs of that time.

But Coach Bartow a Legend in Memphis started a program that provided options.
UAB being an upstart program at the time provided good players opportunities to play close to home and be part of something BIG..

I understand Spencer Baumhower wanting to be part of a team where his father was once a player, heck I hope he can fulfill his dreams and get on the field for at least one play....

Now if a UAB legacy players with father's named Mitchell, Mincy, Gordon, Oliver, White, Webb, etc... wanted to transfer to Alabama to play... well NM.

Knox, the writer, in his version seems to put the decision about blocking the transfer of Knox, the BB player, to UAB squarely on Grant, the Bama BB coach. This does not agree with an article by another NEWS writer at the time that had Grant saying he had nothing to do with blocking the transfer, that it was decided by those "above him". Who exactly is "above him" in the UA chain of command? The AD (Mal Moore)?, the President of UA? the BOT? All are "above" Grant, and any one of them could have done the block. Which version is closest to the truth?
@BAMANBLAZERFAN: You're right about Keith McCord's high school alma mater, West End, Anchrum graduated from Jones Valley HS in 1975...I saw them go toe-to-toe with The Thundering Herd of Parker High many times, the only reason Jones Valley never got to the state finals with the squad that they had on that team was because of Parker, who was "fully loaded" in their own right in that era...
